 | | | | Museggmauer (Musegg Wall) | Tip Rating: | | | | |
The 860 yard long Musegg Wall, erected between 1350 and 1408, is almost perfectly preserved. The mighty fortification forms the northern half of the previous ring-wall which led from the Hof Bridge, Chapel Bridge and Spreuer Bridge over the Reuss to the southern half of the wall. The nine towers have also remained virtually unchanged over the centuries: Nolli Tower (Guild Hall and Archive of the Safran Guild), Mannli Tower, Luegisland Tower, Wacht Tower, Zyt Tower (with a clock dating from 1535), Schirmer Tower (with a superb gate), Pulver Tower, Allenwinden Tower and Dachli Tower.
