Haus am Rhyn & Picasso-Museum is another quite interesting building next to the old townhall and the Rathaus-Turm. Even when you are not interested in the Picasso-museum you may still see an interesting entrance-hall opposite of the ticket-box of the museum. That entrance-hall has great columns and walls, painted in ornate renaissance-frescos, you may enter freely and without restrictions there as long as the museum is open for visitore Picasso-Museum is open daily from 10.00a.m. - 06.00p.m. Leave a Comment Directions: Picasso-Museum & Haus am Rhyn are next to the old townhall / Altes Rathaus

Museum of History, Lucerne by Fam_Stoica The building is the former arsenal of the canton of Lucerne (built between 1567-1568). The Museum of History was opened in 1986 and houses various permanent and temporary art exhibitions. Very interesting : the visitors receive a scanner (a handy bar code reader) in order to load readable text from the bar codes associated with each displayed item. Over 300 works of paintings, sketches, prints, sculptures and book illustrations of the well known Swiss artist, Hans Erni, express his special relationship to technology and communication. It is located next to the Museum of Transportation. You may find something to buy here as a souvenir. I bought a postcard with his design printed on it. Leave a Comment

Crocodile Locomotive (photo from the web) by musti72 My favourite museum in Switerland, the Swiss Transport Museum, is the largest and most popular transport museum in Europe. It is the only museum which shows the development and technical progress of all forms of transport on land, water and in the air, as well as in the fields of communication and the tourist trade. Numerous large halls are dedicated to objects of railway trains, motor cars, ships, airplanes, space vehicles and communication. The Transport Museum also incorporates a Planetarium, and numerous exhibitions are held in its halls. There is also a balloon which takes you up to 120 meters high and offers an amazing view of the museum, Lake Lucerne, and the beautiful landscape surrounding Lucerne. There is also an Imax cinema, the only of its kind in Switzerland, with its huge screen that offers an incomparable film experience. Leave a Comment
