I went to Appenzell through the Appenzeller-Land and it was a really nice trip. At the last sunday in April they make use of their democracy - they sign via hand about all the political decisions of the last year. This is called "Landsgemeinde" and tere are a lot of nice sweets which belong to this.
The villages in Appenzeller-Land are build of small, nice to view colorful houses. Enjoy the beautiful viewings :-)

St. Gallen is in a valley...on top of one hill you'll see the university at the other top, there are three little lakes, where people go walk, talk, date, swim (even in summer it's sooo cold!), study, read...etc...to get there you should go by foot, 'cause you'll see many pretty things. Just remember: it's a long way up. They are caled : Drei Weiern (so, if you go to St. Gallen, you can ask for it and most people will know how to help you)
