pubs and bars
My very favourite is hard to find, and when you find it, you'll notice that tabvles and chairs are about to fall apart: it's the furthest place from fancy that you can imagine - but the crowd is excellent 8read. alternative). The place is known to everyone as El Al (El International officially) and it's in kreis 4, in a tiny lane called Zentralstrasse. Another favourite place to hang out, drink and maybe listen to some bands is the once infamous Rote Fabrik (Red Factory): the name says it all, at least politically. They have a website, but it's only in german: http://www.rotefabrik.ch . For Irish pubs try The Irish Tavern at Talstr. 82, and the Oliver Twist Pub at Rindermarkt 6 if you care for the ex-pat scene. Two sort of dodgy-looking places, but which are not really quite as bad as they look, are the Pumpi-Bar at Niederdorfstr. 40 (it really looks like a strip-joint from the outside but it's not, and makes wonderful cocktails) and the Kon-Tiki at Niederdorfstr. 24. If you like partying barefoot the 'trendy' Barfüsser at Spitalgasse 14 is the place for you, then. And, finally, if you are really daring, I suggest the Aelpli-Bar at Ankengasse 5: I won't tell you what sort of place it is but I suggest you pack your sense of humour - it's a riot.
the inside is build like you were in the alps
with little hutts around you.
Dress Code: you can wear what ever you like
Take a walk around the city after dark. That way you can enjoy the illuminated buildings and statues. It looks very pretty.
Night live is very good although it's a very small town! Places like Kaufleuten, Nelson Pub, Oxa are very busy and hectic... try it out ;-)
