  • Various Parlours: Massage - Zurich Style! ;-)

    by rambler_dave Written Nov 29, 2012

If you spend time in Zurich and want to try "special" massage parlours, follow the advice of Roland Peters zurich guide. I couldn't BELIEVE some of the girls working in the parlours. The czechs are unbelievable, model quality girls. Unforgettable.

Oh yeah, and Zurich has great shopping options also! lol

The Nelson Pub: Decent English Pub

    by Paul2001 Written Jul 12, 2012

The Nelson Pub is one of at least half a dozen English style pubs in Zurich. It is quite large and has a very lengthly bar. There are plenty of brews to choose from. During my visit there was live music playing but this was best forgotten. The pub also serves food but I did not eat here. There are quite a few flatscreen TV's here for sports too.

    Lady Hamilton's: So not Swiss...

by evancheong Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Very International bar, very English pub like atmosphere.
Swiss from Zurich will think its uncool to hangout here. The only swiss you find hanging out here are those not from Zurich.
It has a little small dancefloor in the centre of the room. Crowd is generally much older.
    Drinks are averagely affordable.

12 Apostel: Cool Bar / Restaurant

by Carino Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I passed that Bar and Restaurant hundred times and it never happened that I went in there. Last saturday I finally entered the Bar of 12 Apostel. The interior looks very cool, kinda medieval. The crowd has a good mix of ages and you can find all kind of different styles in there.

Dress Code: The Restaurant looks very fancy, but there is no specific dresscode. For the bar it doesn't matter anyway.

    Olé-Olé Bar: It´s not a spanish place!

by Bigs Updated Apr 4, 2011

The Ole Ole bar is an old pub right in the heart of the red light district in Zuerich, the Langsstrasse. This area is more known for drugs and criminals, but the Olé-Olé Bar is kind of a peaceful oasis in here. The music is more based on Led Zeppelin and Co, but all sorts of people are having their "Hürlimann" (beer) here. So did we with some Swiss friends of Katrin. The only "problem" was to understand the Swiss German sometimes :) It´s getting better after a few Hürlimanns....

Dress Code: Well, if you are a hard rock or heavy metal fan you are dressed right....There is no dresscode, as I said all people are having therir beer here....

    .
Zürich's Opera House is certainly one of the most famous in the world.
CHF 200 for a seat at the opera? (Tosca by Puccini) hmm... too expensive for me that time :-).

Schiffbau (Moods): the nights of ex-factories

by picek Written Feb 13, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I will recommend a visit to this place even if you're not into music they do (see their broad programm, it varies all from jazz to hip hop, etc... live or DJs) or nightlife at all - it impresses with its interior. The dimension of the Schiffabu is related to its ex-factory or so life before it abandoned original activity and it is place which interiors were radically 're-invented', filled with new content. And context. This is now an industrial building of entierly different scale, a place that has been refined, with light positions, natural light from huge windows, revealed construction elements, within original building frame. Fine cultural activity and atmosphere here.

As we visited it on a new year day (after countown and all that), we didn't enter their Moods as the entry was little steep (it was steep in all other places on that particular day - or they were full). We hanged out a bit in their spacious hall before we moved to other place in the district, which offered some very interesting views that night.

Dress Code: I guess you don't need any special outfit, but if you're in doubt, read their web site.

    PUR PUR: Oriental style..

by draguza Written Oct 13, 2009

At Pur pur you can relax in the oriental setting inside during the early hours but as the evening progresses, the venue turns into a night club with beautiful people and loud music.

Inside the venue you get to sit on pillows and smoke the hookah. The first thing you notice when you find a nice free spot to sit is the little paper note telling from which time the spot is reserved for others. But there is usually enough time to enjoy an evening drink.

During major football events, there are two TV screens outside, one in the front terrace and one in the back

    Moods: Live Music

by draguza Updated Oct 13, 2009

We found another great place called "Moods" that I would recommend to future Zurich travelers. They had live jazz music/hip hop the night we were there...yeah, wierd combo, but it was good.
They usually play Jazz, but also Funk, Soul, Blues, Electro

The only thing was that that night the club was full of very very young people (teenagers), but they told me usually it is not so...bad luck!

Wings Airline Bar and Lounge: Get on your WINGS and let your imagination fly!

by WanderingFinn Updated Feb 6, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I think that first of all the idea is great: The idea for WINGS was born out of the turmoil caused by the instability of the Swiss aviation industry in the autumn of 2001. After the grounding and the collapse of their company, the former Swissair employees faced an unforeseeable future.

A small group of pilots and flight attendants reached out to save the very essence that, to many employees, had made Swissair truly unique: the solidarity, the "Swissair spirit", the identification with the company's philosophy. WINGS. A new idea was born. A bar where people can have the sensation of flying and feel the wonder of travelling.

They had even bought some things like food cars and two real airplane chairs from the bankrupty auction and brought them to the restaurant to give more feeling. On the walls there are "airplane windows".

Dress Code: No dress code, but people seemed to be quite nicely (but though warmly for the winter) dressed. Young men had nice pullovers or blue jeans with a jacket. No bodyguards on the door to either let or not let you in; you can just walk in.

Open the door on the left to the imaginery airline

    Garden Club: When Winterthur roars!

by evancheong Written Apr 19, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This club is situated about 20mins drive from Zurich in Winterthur.
Huge place, there are 3 rooms. Main dance floor, Salsa room (not sure if salsa is played permanently) and the lounge. 2 storeys high. You meet mainly locals.
You'll notice the people are very different from Zurich. At least the way they are dressed.

Dress Code: No special dress requirements needed.

Wow....sexy babe dancing by the podium.

    Labor Bar: Super cool Bar

by evancheong Updated Apr 14, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The 1st time I went to this bar was during a 'Gays, lesbians and friends' party.
Very simple decor, big dance floor. DJ was spinning house and techno. I was attracted to the bar most. It has 2 seperate lounges. 1 that is just a long bar leading from the entrance to the cloakroom. The other is the big dance room where most people hangout.

You will need to pay covercharge. Around CHF10.

Dress Code: No special dress requirements.

Club Indochine: When East meets West

by evancheong Updated Apr 14, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Do not be mistaken. This is not the same Indochine management as the one opened in Singapore, KL and Hamburg.

Supposedly the best club in Zurich. 1 of my favourite based on club decor.
Music pretty good. Mostly from 70s, 80s and 90s music.
Super crowded, long Q. Almost impossible to get in unless you have a table or know someone - thats what I HATE!
Very very poor ventilation. Because it is so crowded, you are practically sandwiched in the dance floor. I won't be surprised if anybody just collaspe due to poor air circulation.

Be prepared to have girls becoming super friendly when they see you spending big bucks.
Guys trying their luck....getting sleazy when cute girls pass by. Overall an international place.

Dress Code: Dress well. Dress little....dress to kill is the ultimate key.

    MaDonna: Chillout

by evancheong Written Apr 14, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I have been looking for nice chillout bars around Banhofstrasse till I chance upon this bar opened by Swiss Italians. The interesting thing about this place is they serve light finger food on big plates around the bar counter and its FREE. You may just nibble on the food with your drinks.
The music they play is great. Ranging from Jazz to Acid Jazz and lounge music.
    The drinks are reasonably priced.

Dress Code: No special dress requirements.

0815: A Pickup place? Nice and slow....

by evancheong Updated Apr 14, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Quite a small bar but nice and chic decor. Its just round the corner of Banhofstrasse so its quite convenient to pop by for a glass of wine before your big night begins or some post-dinner drinks.

According to my swiss friends, 0815 is a pickup place but it normally comes to you nice and slow. Crowd is older. No young punks. They serve finger food to accompany your drinks. Cute waiters....haha.

Average pricing. A glass of housepour costs me CHF7

    Dress Code: Normal dressing

    It can get really crowded
