Exploring this area is a must. Niederdorf is a lively place in the old town that stretches from Central Square to the Great Church Square. A wonderful place for shopping during the day, and a popular area for nightlife. Has great variety of restaurants, bars and cafes to cater your hunger or thirst same as Oberdorf area, the "upper" part stretching from Rämistrasse to the Dome Square. There are many original shops, with unique offering that you will not find elsewhere.
Niederdorf runs one block inland from river Limmat on East bank. It is similar in architecture to the old town on the West bank, but has a decidedly more youthful atmosphere. The street is pedestrianized and is lined with many nice stores and restaurants.
The traditional late-night district of the Niederdorf, while still attracting a host of locals, is also among the more popular areas for tourists to visit. Stretching for more than a kilometre this pedestrian street, while full of old-town charm, includes a gaggle of bars and restaurants.
