Rapperswil is a town that belongs to Kanton St. Gallen but can be reached easily from Zurich. This medieval city center is considered as one of Lake Zurich's most significant junctions for traffic coming and going in all directions. We usually go by boat to enjoy the wonderful scenic views around the lake which takes longer. Back to Zurich is faster with the train. It takes only 25 min. The city's sights is confined to a small area and can be easily seen while strolling through the old part of the town. Visit and explore! Witches.........i think they're known to everyone.....i know them in my former fairy tale books.....and in reality! This house is filled with surprises and staffed with Swiss witches, the Chnusperhüsli (literally means- Crispy Hut). These witches are very active in the evening. Great for special occasions. So if you want to surprise somebody in an unusual way, here's the place . It is very popular, so booking is a must. A trip up to Felsenegg (804 m above sea-level) is a must. A cableway lifts you up to Zurich's mountain range Felsenegg from the valley of Adliswil. It operates every 15 minutes. Fantastic views await you at the top. Once there, ( depending on your time) decide whether to walk up to Uetliberg or head to Albispass or further down to Buchenegg. There are many sign-posted walking and hiking routes, so, it's your turn now. Leave a Comment

Rheinfall switzerland by lobopequeno The Rheinfall, Europes largest waterfall, will surely wow you. Although it only had 165 m3/sec of water pouring down when I visited, it was amazing. It was quite cold (minus degrees) that day, not busy at all so I saw the Rheinfall in an almost unreal setting - truly beautiful! Can hardly imagine the sound of 1200 m3/sec (the ever max. measured) thundering!! Make sure you go down the stairs all the way - it's worth it! I recommend going by train (takes about an hour from Zurich HB or Airport) to the city of Neuhausen and walk ca. 30 minutes along the river Rhein. The route is scenic and the signs easy to follow. Oh, I heard that it is possible to go to the little "island" in the middle of this spectecular scenary by boat - but only during main season. Price about Sfr 2, sounds like a bargain to me! Tip: Should you visit during wintertime like I did, beware of the slippery/frozen surface on the steep stairs, especially if your coming with your kids. Leave a Comment Address: Schaffhausen, SwitzerlandDirections: just follow the signs "Wanderweg Rheinfall" and "Rheinfall" from the trainstation Neuhausen

Seleger Moor Park by barbskie Once an upland moor in Rifferswil where Robert Seleger had found that the soil is the same s that in Holland and Northern Germany where Rhododendrons are cultivated. It was in the year 1953 when he started planting his first Azalean on a piece of moor. Unluckily, a bitterly cold winter destroyed some of those plants and only few had survived. This experience had brought him to travel to far off places till to the high mountains of Nepal. He crossed his collections to other sorts thus creating a differenty coloured varieties and are winter hard kinds. Today, this over 120,000 m2 park has served to the public for both young and old. Worth visiting! Open: Middle of May till end of July Leave a Comment Address: Rifferswil, ZürichDirections: Behind Albis

As i've been thinking where to go for a walk on a sunny day, my husband mentioned about this monastery. I was skeptic at first because i really want to ramble on a beautiful Monday afternoon after the snowfall we have had few days ago. As we arrived there, i was so amazed of the area. You can walk and walk till you drop till Baden of Canton Aargau . We took a circular trail along the Limmat river till to the forest and finally visited the monastery. Built in the year 1130 ,this Benedictine monastery lies on the ground of Zurich in Unterentringen but belongs to Aargau since 1803. Here you could purchase some handicrafts made by the nuns, wine and liqours from thier own winery, postcards and literatures. A must for local and international travelers . Ask your hotel or the tourist information how to go there . It's quite a distance from the city center. Leave a Comment Address: Unterentstringen
