The Masoala rainforest hall is a part of the zoo Zurich located on the Zurichberg and was opened in 2004. The attraction is named after the Masoala peninsula in Madagascar, and is the source for the hunderts different native plants and 60 different native animals in this hall.
The attraction is huge and during your visit, you will have the feeling as you would stay in the middle of a rainforest. So don't miss this must see attraction of zoo Zurich. Even the rest of the zoo has a lot to offer, due to the consequent expansion of the zoo, it's quit worth a visit. Notably, the new KAENG KRACHAN (elephants) expansion, which will be opened on June 14th 2014.

Zürich Zoo is home to some 2000 animals with over 260 species.Their habitats are constructed and landscaped as natural as possible. It is open 365 days a year. You can also experience a tropical climate in Masoala Rainforest,25°C and 80% humidity.
Zurich zoo brings Madagascar's rainforest to Switzerland. This rain hall refers to a giant greenhouse near the city's metropolis. It lets visitors glimpse rare plants and animals in a realistic setting. It is similar to two football pitches in size, with a total area of 11,000 square metres, populated with 17,000 plants and more than a hundred animals native to the Masoala peninsula in Madagascar.
This tropical ecosystem hall is annexed to the zoo, overpowering blast of humidity that hits visitors as they enter a jungle filled with ferns and rubber plants, clustered around. There are hundreds of different types of lemurs, birds, fruit bats, chameleons, iguanas, frogs and insects-all of them a native of Madagascar. This is designed to mimic conditions on the continent's threatened Masoala peninsula,

It is open daily
A fairly modern zoo, but not all that exciting. I think that I was the only person there when I visited. The entrance fee was quite high and I didn't really enjoy the experience.
The best bit is taking the No 5 tram from the train station, up the steep hill to the zoo while it meanders through the back streets.
I have been there on a really rainy day, but liked this zoo a lot. I had never before seen an anteater, a tapir and a snow leopard, so it was quite interesting! The Exotarium is a huge house for example, and you can play with a tiger, if he is in the mood for it!
During the winter months - and dependent on the correct temperature - the Zoo lets the penguins out for a little walk around the zoo. To check if the "parade" is happening just log onto the website after 9:30am or telephone the zoo. If the parade is happening it is normally scheduled for 1:30pm.
It is an amazing thing to watch these penguins and can be enjoyed by the young and old.
Family -Amusement park and animals.
The childrens Zoo belongs to the circus Knie.
you can ride elephants and sometimes camels. enyou the show with the sea lions.
A huge childrens playground is available.
The Zürich Zoo has an interesting range of animals and is well worth visiting. The highlight of a visit is the gigantic Madagascan rainforest hall, humming with the sounds of birds, monkeys and a waterfall. It is quite exciting to spot birds, flying foxes, turtles, lizards and lemur monkeys in the bushes or the trees. The Exotarium (with reptiles, frogs, and an aquarium) is another highlight. The only downside is that due to the layout of some enclosures (wolves, tigers) it is very difficult to spot the animals or take photographs as there are only few viewpoints. Right now (spring 2010), there is extensive building activity as a new enclosures for elephants and african animals are created.
