I have flown several times to Zurich from Dortmund and Cologne in Germany. Zurich's airport is located about 12 km north of the city centre near the suburb Kloten. It has 3 terminals: A, B and E. If your flight is to terminal E, then you have to use a skymetro train, which links terminal E with the other terminals. Probably the easiest way to get into town is by train. A trip to the main train station takes about 15 minutes and all scheduled trains belong to the public transportation system. Since December 2008 the airport also has a direct tram connection with the city centre. Tram #10 serves a route from the airport via the train station Oerlikon Ost to Zurich's main train station in less than 40 minutes. A normal single ticket for both the train and the tram sets you back 6,20 CHF (2009) and can be bought from machines at the tram stops or the train station. Zurich Airport is best reached by train. It takes less than 15 minutes to reach the main railway station of Zurich and there are several trains per hours. Some are local (S-Bahn) trains which stop in Zuerich Oerlikon (in case your hotel is there like Swissotel or Minotel Sternen). Of course, there are also taxis or local buses to the airport. There are several terminals and if you have to go to the new midfield one, then allow yourself lots of time because you need to take a little train and the x-ray control there is centralized and at busy times there is a long line. by Subria Zurich Kloten is the largest airport in Switzerland. Swiss, the home carrier, and many international airlines connect Zurich to the world. The airport is just a 15-minute train ride from the main station and there are frequent departures. The train station is located below the terminal and easy to find, just follow the signs. Buy your ticket at the ticket counter or the ticket vending machine before boarding the train. Taking a cab is more expensive and slower.

Swiss Air by Toyin Getting to Zurich from Paris is better by Air, as alternative mode , train would take you about 7 hours. A direct flight from CDG Paris to Zurich is about 55minutes. I always prefer SwissAir to other airlines on this route. This picture was taken, when the plane was making an attempt to land in Zurich. You could see the wing extention for preparation to land. You can fly into Zurich airport from most countries and major cities in the world. We flew in with British Airways from London Heathrow. The flight took around 1 hour and 40 minutes. Arriving in Zurich it was a short walk to security, a short wait for our bags, and we were through into the arrivals hall in no time. There was good signposting from the terminal to direct us to the attached train station. Trains run between the airport and Zurich's main station (Hauptbahnhof) every 10 minutes (during peak times), and the journey takes only about 10 minutes. Some of these trains also continue on to various destinations around the country. If you prefer, there are buses that also go into central Zurich, and many of the larger hotels also have a shuttle bus service. A taxi from the airport to central Zurich will cost you around CHF 50. Zurich Airport by Fam_Stoica Zurich Airport is the main aerial gate to Switzerland and a hub for Swiss (the national air carrier). Zurich Airport is currently serviced by more than 100 different airlines, 75 of which offer scheduled services. Apart from the network carrier Swiss, British Airways, Lufthansa and Air France are the most important airlines represented at Zurich Airport. Together, they connect Zurich with over 50 countries. However, Zurich is also an attractive location for low cost carriers. Airlines such as Helvetic Airways, Air Berlin, Germanwings and others fly to Zurich Airport several times a day. Leave a Comment

We flew straight from Chicago to Zurich on SwissAir. I couldn't print boarding passes in advance but we did check in online and then just dropped our luggage at a special counter at SwissAir and didn't have to stand in line. Going back from Zurich to Chicago we were able to use the quick check in kiosks which prints out your boarding passes and luggage tags, very efficient. Give yourself plenty of time to get to the gate in Zurich, flying to the US you go through security right before you get to the gate and the line was at least 15-20 minutes long. Plenty of shopping at the airport including a Migros grocery store. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

Boarding Lufthansa by adventerrtravel22 I HIGHLY recommend Lufthansa Airlines from Frankfurt to Zurich. A short hop, about 1 hour flight and you are there. Friendly flight assistants, on time and smooth take off and landings. You get a nice view of both Germany and NorthEastern Switzerland on a clear day. Leave a Comment

by Carino You can get to Downtown Zurich by Taxi, Train or Bus. I would recommend to go there by Train. It's the cheapest and probably fastest way. Go to the Train Station in the lowest floor of the airport. You can buy your ticket at the vending machines or at the counter. Just get a ticket to Zurich (ZIP Code 8000) for 2 hours (one way) or 24 hours (return), depending on your further plans. It takes about 10 - 15 minutes to Mainstation (Zürich Hauptbahnhof) and there is a train every few minutes. Leave a Comment

Zürich Airport Train Station by travelfrosch Zürich Airport (Code: ZRH) is quite a transportation hub, serviced by 89 scheduled airlines from Adria Airways to U.S. Airways. The airport, located in the village of Kloten, is only a short distance from Zürich's town center. Taxis are quick but expensive (around CHF 50). Regular trains depart for Zürich HB ("Hauptbahnhof," or main train station) very frequently (at least every 10 minutes between 5AM and Midnight) from the underground Zürich Flughafen train station. Travel time is 10-15 minutes. A ticket to Zürich only costs about CHF 6, so don't waste a railpass day if you're only going to Zürich. If you're making a longer train trip upon your arrival, it is easy for you to validate your railpass at the SBB (Swiss Rail) area on the 2nd Level. A good tip is to avoid the long lines at the ticket counters and proceed to the "Reisezentrum" (travel center) to get your railpass validated. Be sure everyone using the pass is present and have their passports ready for inspection (so the travel agent can write the number(s) on your railpass).
