If you head about 40 km's south from Lucerne and just before you reach Brienz you will come to the Lungerner See which is one of the many beautiful lakes in Switzerland.
Nestled along the shore are the beautiful villages of Lungern and Schönbuel and the picture is complete with the lake surrounded by snow capped mountains.

The village of Lungern lies 750 metres above sea level on the lake of Lungern and is at the foot of the Brünig Pass.

Nice little town next to a beautiful lake
We visited Lungern on a daytrip from Zurich and it is really a very nice place to visit. Not as crowded as the "typical" Swiss lakes in Lucerne or Zurich. Excellent place to relax a bit.

The quiet little town of Lungern is worthy of a summer visit for perfect hiking along the nearby lake, and up the nearby mountains for views of the many waterfalls in the area.
