I was here for dinner, at about 8PM (20H) and the place was packed. This is why probably the service was very slow, and the food not soo Italian either.
The place is well known in town, and the walls are decorated with old movie stars. You have small section sort of like dining rooms that makes it nice.
It is in near the train station so nice easy hop on hop off.
Favorite Dish: gonzola cheese with rondelles of tomatoes, veal in kebad style with potatoes, coffee, red house wine, and 2 scoops of ice cream. Not that good, for a business luncheon ok but if go with the family I will skip.
Nice restaurant, friendly staff.
Food very tasty. Tried goat for the first time, very nice.
You can also stay at this hotel
Favorite Dish: Goat, very tasty just enough on your plate. So you have enough room left to enjoy the desserts.
Walking along promenade in Montreux we stopped in here. This is an indoor and outdoor restaurant. They have a large menu and they speak good English. Still has a strong French flavour.
Favorite Dish: We had a mixture of dishes. Soup and lasagne was the main meals. Came with bread and of course we had wine and beer. For four people we had salads,3 lasagne's wine and soup and beer. came out to 126.00 CHF
The food was awesome. Not a big crepe fan but wow was this ever good. Also the local wine and beer.
Favorite Dish: There was three of as. I had the beef stuffed crepe and it was in a sauce and spicy. It was great. There was 3 of us and with the meals and drinks it was 42.00 euro's
The pizza was awesome along with the wine and beer. I love trying the local beers and found them very good. The ambience very good. One thing about Europe is they don't hurry with meals. It's a time for food but also conversation. They don't rush you out.
Favorite Dish: What I remember is the pizza was real good. There was four of us and we had pizza, soup wine and beer. It all come out to 96 francs.
no question raclette and we do it at home too ::)
you find it all to make it from there here
and I have eaten here on business trip, gorgeous, maybe out of range but I will go back alone.
Favorite Dish: Raclettes of many ways, but company paid
I had a great "swiss dinner" at the end of a busy hiking-day in Grindelwald. While walking back to the train-station I found this great place for a dinner-break:
Tea Room Ringgenberg is a small restaurant that is included in a bakery and because it it convenientely located on the Mainstreet , not far from the station, I had dinner there and tried "Rosa's Special"
Take a look at their web-page, they even have a delivery-service for swiss specialities !
And as you may see on my picture, you first get a small place-mat with the great mountain-panorama on it, you may take it home as a souvenir !
Favorite Dish: I had "Rosa's Special" that is described at the menu as follows:
3 varieties of fresh and fragrant bread, served with selected Grindelwald mountain-cheese and with cured beef and pork meat.
And I had "Cafe Lutz" with it : thin coffee with brandy
Buendnerfleisch is the name of the cured beef
Hobelkaese is the thinly sliced mature cheese, that is served rolled.
In good atmosphere you can eat typical mexican dishes. There is a bar too, you just can go for a drink and enjoy a holiday feeling. They have also a party service, if you organize a mexican evening with your friends.
Favorite Dish: The burritos are great there!
Amazing food including dimsums, and deserts... a must go place in grindelwald. Attractive prices and set menus as well. A very comfortable and a cozy ambience. The food will just make you go craving for more......
Favorite Dish: Crispy Duck, Dimsums, Raviolis
This is the restaurant on top of Muottas Muragl in a hight of 2400 meters above sealevel and you will have an excellent view from up there. They have a good restaurant and a giant terrace that even includes some Roofed wicked beach chairs
Favorite Dish: I just had some coffee and Rueblitorte, a carrotcake.
For all fans of Whiskey it might be a good idea to take a look into Hotel Palazzo Mysanus in Samedan / Samaden, that was built into a building dating back to the year 1624. This hotel and restaurant offers a lot of music-events, just take a look at their webpage and I also saw this signpost for the smallest whiskey-bar on earth, it was not open when I was there and I am also not drinking whiskey, but I thought it might be a good idea to mention it here on VT.
Favorite Dish: The smallest Whiskeybar on earth
is open daily except Sundays from 09.00pm
in Hotel Palazzo Mysanus in Samedan / Samaden
This is the restaurant (and they have a hotel as well) of the Diavolezza in a hight of 2990 meters above sealevel. There is a large restaurant inside and a big terrace, where you can sit and enjoy the view of the glacier. Like at many other mountain-restaurants in Switzerland there is also an area with seats and tables for tourists, who come with their own meals in the rucksack and are searching for a place to make a picknick.
Hotel Restaurant Post in Andeer is a small restaurant and hotel that you will pass by when driving from Thusis towards the San Bernardino-pass on the ordinary road. They have a nice gardenrestaurant and moderate prices and lots of parkingspaces free of charge closeby. (that is quite unusual for Switzerland)
Take a look at my 4th pic : the cutlery does not come wrapped up in a napkin like many other places do it, but it is elegantly served inside that napkin-purse, thats great and much more hygienical.
Favorite Dish: Buendner CAPUNS is a traditional dish of the area of Graubuenden:
Airdryed Beef and mangold will be rolled around Spaetzle-dough and put into a dish with Bouillon. Then it will be overbaked with cheese
The price was 22 sfr (= 14 euros)
Well, the portion could have been bigger, but it really tasted fine and I can highly recommend it to everybody.
This is the description in german :
Spaetzleteig mit Trockenfeisch und Mangold umwickelt,
in Bouillon und mit Käse überbacken
Buendner Pizokels is something that I have to try there the next time !
When you travel in Switzerland and would like to taste the famous local Cheese-Fondue you will soon find out that most restaurants will serve it for parties of at least 2 persons. Thank heavens that is not the case in this lovely restaurant in Interlaken.
Hotel Baeren is a beautiful and romantic restaurant and the building dates back to 1674 - see some pics of the great interior on their webpage !
Hotel Baeren in Unterseen (the old part of Interlaken, north of the river Aare) has a great local restaurant with great swiss specialities. You will not meet plenty of tourists there, but plenty of local people who know, where to go !
Favorite Dish: Cheese fondue is mostly served for a minimum of 2 persons. Fondue is a melted mixture of different kinds of cheeses and it is served in a pot.Small cubes of bread are taken by long fondue-forks and dipped into the fondue.Tastes fine - but if you have a nervous stomach - better don't take too much. Also: drink a lot of tea or white wine and brandy with it.
Normally you get fondue only for a minimum of 2 persons, BUT in restaurant Baeren you may get it also for just 1 person - and have to pay just 3 sfr extra ! Preparing the fondue is quite a lot of work and needs a lot of attention by the cook and it is served in a pot that is kept warm by an open flame... all of this done for just 1 single portion certainly deserves such a small extra-amount. At other places single tourists would have to order and pay for 2 full portions !
MIGROS-restaurants are my favorite place to eat in Switzerland, when I am in a hurry or have to care for my budget (and mostly I have to!)
MIGROS with their self-service-restaurants all over Switzerland are always a very good choice to eat a good meal for a reasonable price. The MIGROS in Interlaken is directely opposite of the station Interlaken-WEST.
These restaurants are also a good place to read the newspapers that they have on free display or to warm up on a cold or rainy day. Mostly you will not be chased away by the servants, when you just sit at a table without consuming anything and the tables are not urgently needed for ther guests.
Favorite Dish: I had a great lunch there and they have a hot buffet with all sorts of fried fishes, meat, chicken... and a warm buffet of french-fries, rices, vegetables etc. - at the end you have to pay 2,60 sfr for every 100 gramms.
For desert you may try "Rueblitorte" - a cake made of carrots !
