Sky Europe

by skatzcatz

Sky Europe is a budget airline flying throughout Europe. Flew with them from Istanbul to Bratislava then to Dubrovnik and found the flight average. Shame the flight was cancelled and rescheduled from 2pm to 4am. Also the plane from Bratislava was unmarked, leading me to wonder how long this airline would last. Still seems to be operating though.

"Fly Niki" low cost carrier

by WStat

I have travelled on Niki (former owner of "Lauda-Air") many times; it has won some airline-awards for service, friendliness and punctuality. Now, a few years ago, (Lauda Air has been bought by Austrian Airlines, who maintained the brand "Lauda" - as a token for special quality !) Lauda has founded "Fly Niki" in cooperation with Air Berlin. It is a nearly flawless airline, offering punctuality, good service, low fares for early bookers and rather new to pretty young planes. If I should recommend any low cost carrier, it would certainly be Niki in the first place !

Passengers´Rights

by deptlads

Ok things can go wrong when we fly, but airlines have not always treated passangers well when they make mistakes. The EU has made passengers´ rights a priority, so rather than relying on the goodwill of the carrier, you can now press for a certain level of service. As usual there are the getouts for security, weather and so on but it´s best to be well informed. The link below is to the leaflet published by the EU. If you have problems the people in the Commission are very helpful- but best to be assertive with the airline staff at the time. Email shown below

Hitchhiking

by marrit

If you're a low budget traveller, but especially if you want to see and experience something else than the tourist scene you're normally absorbed in when you're travelling, go hitchhiking in Europe! The best country to get easily, very long and fast rides in, is Germany. But in general almost everywhere its quite safe and easy to hitchhike (only Spain is a bit harder, and in Italy its almost impossible). If you're planning to go hitchhiking, and want some more tips, just send me a message, i'd be glad to help.. (I've been hitchhiking in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway and Kroatia). If you want some more certainty than just standing near the road with your tumb up, you can also try this really good site: www.hitchhikers.org, where you can arrange rides in advance. Some of these rides are for free, but mostly you pay something for the petrol.

Do you need a rail pass? Find out here.

by leplaya

If you know your schedule (or possible schedule) for any trip in europe and you need to know whether a rail pass is worth it. A great site to visit is railsaver.com. Click on the railsaver icon on the home page, and right your arrival info, which cities you want to visit and how long you'll be in each city. It will tell you how much it will approximately cost and if you will save money by buying any of the many rail passes available.

Go by train

by mafootje

To get around in Europe the train is a cheap and easy way of transportation. If you want to travel around europe you can buy tickets for unlimited travel for a certain period. You could also buy fixed tickets if you know where you want to go to... Picture taken October 11, 2003 14:04

Qual a melhor companhia aérea até a Europa?

by marmasel
