Transportation

taxi to caves around Alushta

If you want to go to any caves around Alushta and there is no organized trip on that day (if it is off-season) or you want to go there independently without tourist bus, you can go there by taxi. We paid 260 grivnas for round trip to Mramornaya cave. It was about one hour drive (the last part of the road was terrible, I think there is no worse road in Europe) and the driver waited for us while we were in the cave. Maybe we could get less price if we would bargain longer, but it seemed fair for us. Probably we are wrong. We were there in the end of 2004, so now prices could go up, I am not sure. Hitchhiking to Mramornaya cave from Alushta could be difficult, because of the small and deserted road which leads to it.
