Favorite thing: Every family has vegetable garden where they grow potatoes, carrot, cucumbers, tomatoes, pepper, beetroot, watermelons, pumpkins, corns, wheat and other food. As a rule families eat only that they grow. They buy only meat, sausages, bread, but sometimes they do it by themselves.
People from city will tell that it is great to have everything fresh from vegetable garden, but they don?t understand how hard this work is and it is easy to earn money and buy everything on market.

Favorite thing: Western Ukraine is more strong in religious views in compare to other parts. It mix modern style with of living with old Orthodox rules.
Every village has beautiful church or even 2 or 3. I was surprised to see many chapels almost near every house or corner of road. Chapel is little church where some pics and icons are, but they were done so professionally like in Kiev in big churches. Only 2-4 people can be there (because of its size). If you feel bad yourself and it is far to go to the church or it closed, you can go to the closest chapel and pray, put the candle. It is really amazing.

Favorite thing: Western Ukraine is the area of contrast, I called it such way. The matter that you can see many wonderful and rich houses there near small and poor ones. You would tell that it is area where rich people live, but unfortunately it is only on first view. When you find out the true side of people’s life, you will change your mind. The matter is that many women and men are far from their native places, because they need to earn money for good living of their children. Country side all over Ukraine couldn’t offer many jobs for people, so they have to go to Italy, Portugal, Germany, USA to make the cheapest work and to live in the worst conditions only to have some Euros to send to their parents who takes care about grandchildren. Some of them are back after 2-3 years of work and try to make a business in Ukraine (it is really hard because of mafia – yes, there is still mafia), others get accustomed to life overseas and never come back.
Fondest memory: When I went out from bus I was impressed to see such view (see on photo): beautiful house, which is really expensive and children who wear not very expensive cloths and who is lack of their closest people – their parents. This picture will show you Western Ukraine with the best way.

Favorite thing: The central square of Vyzhnytsya – it is empty because all people are at home or visit their relatives celebrating Easter.

Favorite thing: These living area is detached with river from other part of village. You can get there only by old bridges, car wades.

Favorite thing: Houses (either rich or poor) are uncommon and don’t look like others. Builders have good imagination and creative mind. Now I understand why they are very popular in other parts of Ukraine.
