This restaurant is located in the main street on the first floor of the building of Central Hotel at 87 Artem Street, in the old part of Donetsk, opposite the main office of Donetsk Railways Company.
the restaurant offers a wide variety of typical Ukrainian dishes such as borshch, starters, varenyky, lots of salads, and what not.
We had varenyky (Ukrainian dumplings filled with vegetables) with fried potatoes and mushrooms, and our American friend had varenyky with stewed cabbage.
It was great to sit on the balcony and to enjoy the views of the Morning Donetsk.
The restaurant has several spacious halls decorated in the national style, cozy chairs and tables, a model village well, murals and bas reliefs on the walls. A nice photo session here, too.
Favorite Dish: varenyky with fried potatoes and mushrooms
This is a very interesting beautifully decorated big restaurant in the vicinity of Donetsk spread over a big territory with a nice garden, Wi-Fi and free guarded parking. It is something between a restaurant and an ethnography museum since it consists of a big building on two floors and several small ones that are actually looking like old homes from different regions of Ukraine (Poltava, Sumy, etc.). The name of the venue means "village" in Russian and the slogan of the restaurant is "village restaurant in a city style" so the interior is done as if you are in a village house but too glamorous one. The dishes served are looking great and are very tasty (there are several typical Ukrainian ones, the focus is on meat), the service is really good, the prices are above average as well for Donetsk. You can pay in cash or with the major debit/credit cards. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant since I expected it to be another tourist trap but it turned to be a nice one and I would recommend it without hesitation.
Favorite Dish: Vegetable salad with feta cheese, the grilled pork with sauce and the draft beer Krusovice
This is a restaurant (no matter the fact that it's called club-bar) with a a central location, a very unique atmosphere and name (the word "svinia" in Russian means "pig") as well as a program including some tricks with a pig that is presented as the director of the venue under the name of Modest Ivanovich. The interior is unique since you can write everywhere (on table or walls) whatever you want, there is toilet paper on the table instead of napkins, but this somehow contributes to the different atmosphere of the venue and makes it popular among the guests of the city and the local population. The dishes they offer are quite delicious, the service is good, the program with the pig is also interesting, but beware though that the pig tries to bite you if you want to touch it since it is kept on a diet (at least this is what we have been told. You can pay in cash or by credit card, the venue doesn't have a parking, but there is plenty of space to park your car on a nearby street.
Favorite Dish: The so-called pork dinner (svinskiy uzhin), the superb draught Blanche beer
This place is part of the complex that also hosts the Liverpool Art Hotel and the Liverpool Live Music bar.
The choice is pretty vast and prices are super cheap. I would have described it as a food court rather than a food market as the food is cooked and ready to eat.
Payment is by one of their plastic cards that cost 10 UAH and then you add money to it. It seems unnecessarily complicated to me but is a small price to pay for what is otherwise bargain priced food with huge choice. I am told by locals that this place is the popular with the more intelligent types in Donetsk.

This is the place, where you can meet real drinkers, in Russian language "sobutilnik". Various drinks, pirozhki, and Ljuska on the counter - that's exactly what you look for in Donetsk, and that is the best place tio find it! Here you will meet the most respected drunkards of the city, you may ask them for advice of how to live in this world and where to find the sense of the life. In the evening the Gendelyk is often visited by informal youth that can drink and after that play music right near the entrance. So, be sure to visit it when you're in Donetsk!
Favorite Dish: Primorskoje wine - it's price is nearly 4 UAH (60 Eurocents). Delicious. Marvellous. The most popular thing in this place.
