Walking about the city, especially uptown, you will see lots of vendors outside the apartment houses or near the entrance to a store.
A talk with the seller is an inalienable part of the process of buying goods from the street vendors who bring their vegetables and fruit from the nearby villages to earn some money to keep their families.
So why trade with those people? Just buy whatever you need, have a short conversation with them and don't forget to give them a tip (or at least neglect the change).

I used to frequent this store when a student.
Also, I went to the grocer's located opposite the central department store. The crackers there seemed to taste better than those from a small store...
Now there are a lot of new stores almost in every street.
