debankh's General Tip

by debankh

One of the neatest things was when some local boys showed me and some friends Cecil the Cat's tree-house. I don't know if it is still there, but there is this cat that lives in a little house in a large tree. I just have to include a pic of it!

by debankh

Go to the Odessa Opera House for at least one performance! It is gorgeous inside and the performances are very good. When I was there it was very cheap too! I went two nights and seats in the general section were only the equivalent of about fifty cents (U.S.). I don't know the current prices, but I'm sure it is still pretty cheap so even those on the tightest of budgets can spring for a fabulous night at the opera!

Study the history of Ukraine,...

by EskiMoe

Study the history of Ukraine, and understand the differences of Ukraine and Russia. I particularly find the early history of 'Kievan Rus' interesting, when Scandinavian vikings established themselves in Kyiv. The drawing is of Vladimir the Great who christened the country in the year 988.

Take a stroll around historical Kyiv and enjoy the feeling of a great historical city. Strolling down the wonderful main street of Kyiv, Khreshatyk, on a warm summer day. Closed for cars on weekends it is a great place to just relax, watch the people and enjoy a cold beer on a sidewalk cafe.

This monument commemorates the founding of KIEV, Notice the distictly Norse style boat. I learned this year through a PBS National Geographic Special that the Norsemen were indeed the founders of KIEV and helped establish the KIEVIAN RUS...the Norse word for red...RUS had real sticking power...and was the basis for the name RUSsian...even though these days most Ukranians would wince at being called Russian.
