Ivano-Frankivsk airport is located just 3 miles from the city centre. The airport is extremely small with one run way and only one terminal. Due to Ivano-Frankivsk being a small city you can only travel by Aeroplane to Ivano-Frankivsk from Kyiv. Only 2 flights operate from I-Frankivsk Airport - One leaves in the morning at around 6:30 to Kyiv and the second flight arrives at around 22:30pm from Kyiv. There are no luggage belts so when you arrive at the airport you will be kept in a holding area for about 15 minutes then your luggage will be pushed in on a tray and you can collect your luggage and leave the airport.
Due to the airport being that small when you are departing from the airport you have to go through security in single file because there is not much room, you will be allowed in one by one, put your bags through the detectors and walk through the metal detectors, then the next person will be called in and so on and so forth.
There are no coffee shops, souvenir shops that you would expect from other European airports. There is one coffee machine in the airport which accepts Kopecks and small Ukrainian Hryvnia notes (1,5 & 10's only).
Toilet facilities are available but I am afraid they are squatting toilets even in the ladies room.
Taxis and minibus' from the airport are extremely cheap at only 40 hryvnia's for a mini bus to the centre of Ivano-Frankivsk.
We came to the city by train.
It is connected with Kiev, Lviv and other large cities by trains.
There are also bus routes to the majority of West-Ukrainian cities.
I don't know if the city airport functions now.
You can fly to Lviv and then take a bus, a train or a taxi to Ivano-Frankivsk.
