Dynamo Kyiv is one of the most famous football clubs to come out of Ukraine as well as Shakrar Donetsk. It has and still is one of the leading teams in the Ukrainian football league. Dynamo Kyiv has participated in all of the USSR and Ukrainian championships to date, and has won both competitions more times than any other team. The Dynamo Kyiv football shirts are usually white and dark blue.
Tickets for Dynamo Kyiv matches can be bought at the Lobonovsky Stadium located in central Kyiv near the Independence Square. Many Dynamo matches are also played at the larger Olympic stadium which is also the stadium for the national Ukainian football team. Tickets are relatively cheaply priced in comparison to European standards. I paid roughly £5 for a decent ticket, paid range from £5-£20
To give it the correct name the Valeriy Lobanovskyy stadium, home of Dynamo Kiev.
No game for us to watch but able to get close and have a look around, it's a good looking place as footie grounds go, entrance especially memorable but not that big I suspect.
Worth a look if you like football.
Who doesn't know this slogan ?:)
Everybody does. At least in Ukraine.
Well, in ex-USSR Dynamo was the only one team who 3 times took a Europe Cup of Country Cups (this competition does not exist anymore, only Europe champion cup and UEFA) and 3 times participated into semi-final. No any other team did it.
There was a joke : "USSR foot team is Dynamo Kyiv spoiled by the footballists from other teams". :)))
Equipment: However there was an accident much less known by the fans and even sport community. So-called " Match of death". It happened during Nazi occupation of Kyiv. Legent says that Dynamo Kyiv won a match against Luftwaffe team and footballists were shot for this. But how real is that story, we don't know. Anyway there is a monument dedicated to this event.
Football is very popular now as well and if you are fan of the foot, just take the T'short, shirts and crosses and welcome to play. There are plenty of sport yards and green yards in numerous parks and forests.
Dynamo Kyiv is maybe the best Ukrainian football team. The small and venerable football stadium, Lobanovsky Dynamo Stadium, is in the centre of Kiev, however their matches is located at the large central Rebublican Stadium. The smal stadium at Hrushevsky Street was built in 1934 and is more like a museum. The capacity is 16873 spectators. A security guard will show you around if you pay a small entrance fee.
There are different matches here. Besides, you can attend a soccer match at the Central Republican Stadium in Great Basil Street (Vassylkivska Street) in Kiev.
"Dinamo" soccer club is still very popular among the Ukrainian fans.
I was just strolling through Kiev and suddenly I was standing in front of the football stadium of Dynamo Kiev. To me, Dynamo Kiev has always been a big football club and they won the European Cup Winners Cup back in 1975 and 1986.
If you’re interested in football you will recognize the names of some of their former big players: Oleg Blokhin, Serhiy Rebrov, Viktor Onopko, Oleg Salenko and (the big, big star) Andriy Shevchenko.
Lobanovsky Dynamo Stadium has a capacity of about 18000 spectators, and is only used for domestic and minor European games. They play their big games at the Olimpiysky Sport Complex.
the is the sport that indeed unites all Ukrainian no matter where they live, what language they speak, what life style they have. After Ukraine's National Soccer team entered into the quarter final of FIFA World Championship in Germany last year and lost to it to no one but THE Champion, Ukrainian soccer team became the National Hero and it's rating sky-rocketed :)
Anyway, mark your calendar for 2012 as the Final of the 2012 European Soccer Championship will take place in Kyiv. meanwhile you enjoy games between main Ukrainian rivals Dynamo Kyiv and Arsenal at the Dynamo Stadium.
Tickets are very reasonable. the most expensive will cost you 50 hryvna ($10)
Equipment: you can bring pipes, funny hats or scarfs :)
The stadium of Dynamo Kiev is located near the river Dnipro.
It's a rather small stadium for the most famous footballclub of Ukraine. For Europa Cup-matches Dynamo plays in the Olympic Stadium, not far from their own stadium.
If you get a chance, try to watch a match at the stadium. This team has a long history and has produced some really great players that ended up in....ITALY! hehehe! I won't mention names, but anyway... If you are a true Dinamo fan, be sure to pick up a scarf or hat and support them that way as well. Their colors, blue and yellow/gold, match just about everything...hehe! For you wanna-be fashionable supporters! For those interested in history, be sure to see the monument dedicated to the soccer players forced to participate in matches during the Second Great World War. As a result of winning those matches, most of the Ukrainian team members were arrested and executed. They are not forgotten - there is a monument to them in Kiev and their heroism inspired the film called "Victory" starring Sylvester Stallone and Pele.
Dynamo Kiev are a team that always seem to do really well in there own league . They have some talented East european players that may be unheard of in comparison to the ones in better known leagues, but they play with passion that wins them league titles and endlessly qualifies them for the Champions league.
I saw them play Juventus and give them a real scare almost going away with a win. They lost 2-1 but it was an exciting match to watch as well as being very cold. Cost me 10 Hryvnia(about £1.25 at the time)
Equipment: Stadium was cold with no canopy protection - make sure you're well wrapped during the winter months.
Go to Dynamo Kyiv stadium and watch a fotball game. Dynamo playes in the Ukrainian league and also use to play in Champions league.
