Friendship of Nations Arch
You see the Friendship of Nations Arch from many points in the city.
If you walk to the end of Kreshchatyk Street and then up towards St Michael's Monastery you have the photo opportunity here
Ironically, the name 'Friendship of Nations' refers to the now defunct 1654 unification of Russia and Ukraine

LIPKI: Arch of Friendship of People
This veritable socialist monument one a lane just behind the National Philarmonic, was built in 1982 and was dedicated to the unification of Russia and Ukraine. The monument complex consists of a huge metallic rainbow over a statue of a Russian and Ukrainian worker holding the Soviet Order of Friendship of People. Nearby is a granite monument with figures of the participants of the Pereyaslavska Rada of 1654. What an irony, the two countries separated just one decade later.
There is a panorama platform with great views over Dnieper river, the forest and the Riverboat Station. There are numerous kiosks for snacks and refreshments (…or should I say for a cold beer better??!!)
Arc of Friendship...Ironic
Located at the end of Kreshatik Ave facing the Dnepr river.
The arc represents the friendship between Russia and Ukraine, was built after War War II since all the forces were joined to fight the Germans.
Ironically, there is really no big friendship between those countries. Even though it feels like it's the same thing, it really is not. Don't ever call a russian ukrainian or vice versa. big mistake. Some people are very nationalistic and proud (especially if it's west Ukraine).
Russia and Ukraine United
The friendship arch represents the unification of Ukraine with it's large and domineering neighbour of Russia.
The monument consists of a Ukrainian and a Russian worker stood under a large arch holding up the plaque of the Soviet Order of Friendship. Besides the two men stand the Pereyaslav council.
