    As you depart... Please note...
  • Tip Rating:
  • As you depart...
Please note that during customs formalities at the Ukrainian border you may opt for the 'green' channel - or the 'red' one. The 'red' channel, where you will be asked for a completed customs declaration, is for passengers carrying over US$ 1000 in cash (or the equivalent amount in any other currency) and/or goods to declare. Otherwise, you may go through the 'green' channel. Be prepared, however, that a customs officer may ask to inspect your luggage. Please remember to have your passport and ticket at hand.

The Hand Luggage Check-In Counter may be preferential upon departure for passengers with luggage of under 7 kg, measuring not more than 55x40x20 cm (or, all three dimensions added up, 115 cm).

The Business Lounge welcomes business class clients and UIA Panorama Club frequent flyer members. You will be invited to visit the Business Lounge as you check in. In this spacious, comfortable lounge you may enjoy a choice of soft and hot drinks, alcoholic beverages and snacks. Visitors can also use the fax, phone or computer and do a bit of last minute shopping at the duty-free store. The Business Lounge is located in the departures area.

The VIP lounge is situated to the right of the main entrance (Terminal C). It is designed to bring comfort to those who value it and hate bustle. Here you will be offered a variety of drinks, and we'll take the hustle out of the airport formalities for you, from customs all the way through to boarding. For prices and further information call: 296 7212.

Child Care. If your kids are travelling alone, we'll take care of them - just let us know when you buy tickets or before departure at the airport. This service is charged.

Persons with impaired mobility may rely on our assistance - from check-in to boarding the plane. This service is charged.

You will find the duty-free shop and an Irish Bar in the departures area.

    As you arrive...
While still aboard, you may want to fill in your customs declaration. Should you wish to make use of it in future, make it out in duplicate.

Except for citizens of the CIS or holders of diplomatic, special or service passports of states where there are relevant bileteral agreements, all other visitors are required to have a Ukrainian visa. You must one before arriving in Ukraine, as they are not issued at the airport. Another must is medical insurance. If you have arrived without a policy, however, you may purchase one before passport control.

Luggage trolleys are available in the customs area hall (As of October 15, 1999, they were leased out for UAH 4). An exchange bureau is in the same hall.

Transfer to downtown Kiev 30 km

SHUTTLE. Polit Shuttle Service buses depart every hour/half-hour, starting 05:00 from Boryspil (6:00 Kiev) and finishing at 21:30 (22:10 Kiev). Travel time is about 1 hour and the fare is UAH 10. (For information call: 296-7367).

RENT-A-CAR. Several international car rental companies operate desks at the airport.

TAXI. For a fare of approximately UAH 70 you will be delivered to Kiev in about 40 minutes.

  • Tip Rating:
  • It is easy to get to the Kiev by plane (the airport of Borispol -small city in one hour by bus from Kiev) or a train, but inside the city I prefere to go by metro! The reason is the center is under a construction and that is the reason for trafic jams. Metro is very cheap and you can get to the magority of the districts of Kiev.

Kiev airport is in the middle...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Kiev airport is in the middle of nowhere, with only a infrequent, slow and cold bus service (approx $5 US, takes over 1 hour) or a cab, of which there are loads of touts in the arrivals area trying to direct you towards their cabs. Cost around $40US, takes around 25 minutes, but if you can strike a deal with your driver, he will probabley take you back to the airport at a pre-arranged time for around $25US.
Good underground system, very cheap, approx 50 cents US per journey.

  • Tip Rating:
  • If you go to Kiev it is almost certain you will fly into Borispol Airport. Much of Ukraine is in fact a bit bleak and the central theme of most architecture seems to be massive cement.Borispol is no exception..both times I was there it was under construction but didnt look a bit different either time. I understand it looks alot better now..maybe colored concrete??;-)

  • Tip Rating:
  • The cheapest way to get arond Kiev is by public transport, whether bus, tram, mini bus or undergroung train. They are generally a bit scruffy maybe but are well used.

  • Tip Rating:
  • Kiev Metro--take the metro for getting around--especially to the central, downtown part. This is the Metro Escalator. It is really, really long!! The tunnel is really deep underneath the city. The system is really clean and modern. At one part, the track is on a bridge that crosses the river and it's open so that you can see the river and the Lavra and other sights.
