Favorite thing: Before traveling take some time and learn some useful phrases in Russian. The locals are friendly and do appreciate your attempts to learn their language. You may be surprised that they will enjoy speaking their "English" to you.
There are some good books available in most any bookstore. The best seem to be:
Russian Phrasebook, from Lonely Planet. $7.95
Passport to Russian, by Charles Berlitz. $6.95
CD / Audio Tape: Pimsleur, Instant Conversation, 8 cassettes for around $49.95.
Computer CD Rom/ MP3- Linkword-Russian, by Unforgettable Languages, $38.99 online.
Private Medical Clinic
Favorite thing: FYI: If you are in need of medical attention while visiting the city there is a private clinic of doctors located in Luhansk. A group of doctors have formed together to provide medical services similar to those clinics in the USA. In that a wide variety of medical specialists practice there. The prices are more than reasonable, especially when compared to those of the west. No appointment is needed. They will see you as soon as possible. But it will be best to have a Russian speaker with you. Also, if you must be in need of prescription drugs you may wish to have a prescription from your doctor and before traveling, translate to Russian. Those with diabetes,eg., will certainly know the travel procedures for needles etc.
Cental downtown location. The address is Sovietskaya st. # 54.
