When you visit, you must take a ride on the ferris wheel in May Day Park. Nice view of some of Luhansk.
The park grounds are very pleasant walking. But I imagine the park is crowed on a nice warm day. We went during the week and few people were there.
Unfortunately some of the childrens rides seem to be in disrepair. There is a new outdoor theater under construction (Sept 05)
Also visit the small zoo.
There are a couple of small restaurants on the grounds if you are thirsty or in need of some basic food.
All in all, a pleasant walk with friends.
I think the gondolas look like bottle caps. But I do not know if that was the intention.
Wether you are a true believer or not. Do make a trip to visit this very special and holy site. You will be glad you did. The chapel is located off Defense Street. The bus stop is called "Taxopark." Walk along the trolley bus line towards the trolley bus depot. Philip of Luhansk (1858-1956) is very much revered as the Orthodox Saint here, although he is not yet canonized.
Please look at my friend Victor's (aka HunterV) web site: www.stphilip.wwservers.com
The Virgin Mary appeared to Philip on June 13,1905 and empowered him to help and heal people..
Philips' words: "Come to me as a living person. When you come to my grave, call me, and I will hear you and help you in your trouble."
When in season go to the circus! Local performers. Lots of interaction with the crowd. You may be asked to be part of their skits.
