There is an exhibition at the local lore museum dedicated to the famous people of Luhansk region.Vladimir Lyakhov, our contemporary, is one of them. He was born on July 20, 1941 in the town of Antratsit Luhansk region in a worker’s family. He started to study after finishing his high school. He graduated from a military pilots’ school and became a military pilot. In 1967 he was enrolled into the cosmonauts’ team of the USSR.He flew into space three times and became twice Hero of the Soviet Union and a lieutenant general (a two-star general).
