    Cardiff Hall: English Style Restaurant

by hunterV Written Apr 30, 2011

    At Cardiff Hall restaurant, Luhansk

This new restaurant is a part of Druzhba hotel complex.
Our Korean partners stayed at that hotel and one day we had breakfast at this restaurant together.
I liked the decor and the service. I don't know how English the decor is, but it looks quite impressive and solid.
This restaurant would be a nice place to receive travelers from Cardiff, the twin city of Luhansk.

    Hunter Auto Grill: Roadside Restaurant

by hunterV Updated Apr 30, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    ?Hunter Auto-Grill? restaurant, Luhansk, Ukraine
    4 more images

This is a new restaurant dedicated in late June 2005.
It belongs to the network of seven road restaurants called Hunter.
The restaurant has one big hall and a large summer terrace, two separate small houses with one table for private banquets.
We sat once at the terrace and for the second time in one of the huts. The hut looks unattractive, but very richly decorated inside. If you would like to have dinner in one of those hunter houses, better reserve it beforehand.

Favorite Dish: The menu includes lots of Ukrainian national dishes such as varenyky, garlic dishes, salads, etc.

The cafe has a nice interior, more than a dozen of tables styled in a Japanese style with elements of traditional Japanese decor.
You can either drink coffee or beer or order some meal.
My VT friend Simon and I went there to have some beer and enjoyed the ambience very much.
I liked the atmosphere for there were no smokers there!
That is what I call healthy way cafe!
I enjoyed our business banquet where I was present as an interpreter.
We managed to try lots of dishes there.
I was very careful about the sauces there...

This is a nice new restaurant built in "Georgian style" downtown offering all kinds of food including open fire fish and meat dishes, among them the fanous shish kebab.
The restaurant has lavish Georgian style design, good atmosphere, a separate banquet hall and table in the street outside, a TV and a huge home video with Ukrainian MTV music.
It's a good place to sit and have some beer.
Ordering food means having paying for an expensive feast here.
The Georgian wines are very expensive too (around $70 a bottle).

    Sam's Steak House
    4 more images

This new restaurant dedicated in 2009 is located on the fouth floor of Luhansk City Center shopping mall.
The entrance is to the left of the main entrance to the shopping lot, near the parking lot.
The restaurant has lavish and nice décor and a small banquet hall called Library.
I liked what I called Indian style table with a lot of Native American artefacts.
You can see a bottle of Sam’s Housewine at every table. They say that red wine is the best for the meats they offer there. But mind you, the bottle is not a company gift, but should be paid for and the price is not low.
You can come here for a drink , for a snack or to have full dinner.
The atmosphere is nice and quiet in any time of the day.
There is a motorbike where you can have a picture of yourself taken after you have eaten.

Ship's Boy: Enjoy Your Stay at the Sailors' Cafe!

by hunterV Updated Apr 4, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Welcome to the cafe!
    4 more images

This is one of the modern cafe-bars in our city ("Younga" in Russian).
It is located in the building of the Puppet Theater. The entrance is from Kotsiubinsky Street.
There is also a new terrace outside the cafe, near its entrance.
The nautical theme is widely represented here:
    - small round fish tanks in the form of a scuttle on a ship on the wall beside each table,
    - a model of a ship stern,
    - very comfortable seating areas with chairs/stools in the form of a ship barrel,
    - waiters in sailor’s suits,
    - “Captain’s Cabin” banquet hall.
The cafe offers relaxation both for kids and grown-ups.
It has about forty seats and a good and quiet atmosphere, nice and friendly staff, big choice of food, enough place for a small corporate party of 40 persons.
Don't forget to reserve a table for they are often all taken.
As you enter the cafe you can see a part of a model stern on your right. You can climb the "deck" and have a picture of yourself taken there.
I just couldn’t resist and decided to try it. So after I have had enough beer I climbed the stairs to the deck, took the steering wheel in my hands, which is very rare in my life, and had my picture taken.
It looks as if I were in the open sea, doesn't it?
So don't miss that cafe, friends. You are sure to enjoy your stay there.
You can see a door on the left on these pictures. It is a new banquet hall for ten persons where you can have a nice private party. The hall looks like a captain's cabin on a ship.
You can order several unique dishes (seafood) with very special names. Besides, there are several delicious ice creams such as Lights of St.Elm, Limpopo and others.

Favorite Dish: "John Silver" steak , Old Pirate baked fish dish, ice creams (Lights of St.Elm), etc.

    Aelita: Oboronnaya Street Dining

This small cafe is located downtown opposite the campus of Shevchenko National University.
It offers you nice quiet atmosphere and lots of different dishes on the menu.
It's a good place to stay after tiresome shopping.
Although there are only a few tables, you can always get one there, especially if you phone beforehand.
The cafe has a terrace outside.
The prices are what I would call "professor prices" : too high. The university is opposite the cafe and its professors and assistant professors frequent this place.
