There are 10 everyday trains departing from Luhansk railway station, among them trains #186, 604, 649 and 691 are regional trains and arrive to the places of their destination on the same day; all other trains are night trains, that is, you have to spend a night in the sleeper there.

If you choose to take a plane from Kiev to Luhansk, you will arrive to our international airport called Boryspil and then take an evening flight to Luhansk (except weekends).
The flights to Luhansk are on week days at 7.10 p.m. from the national airport in kiev.
The flights to Kiev are on week days at 7 a.m. (except Saturday and Sunday).

Luhansk Airlines is an old company having several An-24 at their disposal.
There are even charter flights to Istanbul three times a week from Luhansk.

This one is the latest. They have all new cars: Mercedes, VW, Audi and arrive very quickly.
If you value the speed and convenience, this taxi must be for you.
They also charge a bit more:

Our city airport is called Luhansk International Airport.
There is a flight to Istanbul (Turkey) by DC-9 on Sundays.
Departure: 11 a.m. and arrival at 1.45 p.m.
The flights are serviced by UM Air Airlines. The ticket costs $299.
Call 53 01 03, 57 52 62, 53 72 69 in Luhansk.
You can also order a VIP service at the airport. There are two nice VIP halls there (the entrance fee is $15), one of them is called Governor's Hall:

They also have a fax, phone, a bar and a special service car to meet you or to see you off.
Another flight besides Kiev was to Simferopol, the capital of Crimea.
It was a charter flight, only on Fridays at 10.30 p.m.; arrival at 0.20 a.m.
The ticket cost about $100.
Return flight from Simferopol is on Sunday at 7.20 p.m. from Simferopol International Airport. Arrival in Luhansk: 9.10 p.m.
Now you can fly to Lviv from Luhansk via Kiev.

There are no other flights to Luhansk from any other Ukrainian city like we used to have before.
The air ticket would cost you about $100 and the taxi ride to Boryspil International Airport from downtown Kiev would cost you about $35 (one hour drive).As of June 27, 2008, all flights to Luhansk have been canceled due to the new technical requirements. All planes of Lugansk Airlines have been recognized as outdated and unsafe.
Thank God the flights resumed on August 4, 2008 after the turbojet planes were introduced.The airport building was under repair for a long time and looks fantastic now.
This is how its exterior looks like now.There is also a charter flight from Luhansk to Istanbul on Mondays and Thursdays in summer. The price is about $300.
So you can get to Luhansk from the Turkish capital, too. If you should be having a world tour and stay in the Turkish capital, welcome to Luhansk, too!

You can see the route numbers at the stops, but you will not see their exact schedule. The plaque says, this route arrives every five or ten minutes...
You just have to know your route , have patience and wait like us.
Usually they arrive every other minute.
There is a conductor at every tram or trolley bus whom you pay the fare (20 cents).

You can ride by trams of ten routes in the city and get wherever you want, except the hill of Stone Ford where you can get only by bus 110 from the railway station.

People coming to Luhansk by train are shocked seeing these huge smoke stacks and industrial premises and ask us afterwards what it was.
It's Alchevsk metallurgical plant, one hour's drive to Luhansk. Its numerous smokestacks are seen from afar and you can smell the smoke,too.
Don't panic, it's not Lucifer's realm, just a factory. The train stops there for a few minutes.
I couldn't help taking asome pictures of the plant.

There is a through train from Kiev leaving at 6 p.m. It takes the train 16 hours to arrive to the place of its destination.
It's better to buy the whole compartment (four seats) even if three persons are traveling. It will cost you about 480 UAH ($95) to buy the four seats in the compartment.
If an even number of persons is traveling, it's better to buy seats in the First Class sleeping car, which will cost you 400 UAH ( about $80) for one seat (in a two-berth compartment).
If you miss the through train to Luhansk, you can take an evening bus (at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Boryspil airport) to Kharkiv (350 km north of Luhansk). The bus arrives to Kharkiv early in the morning (6 a.m.), you can take a regular morning bus to Luhansk at 6.30 a.m.
You can also go to Luhansk from the railway station by Mercedes bus which leaves at 4.15 p.m. and arrives in Luhansk at about 7.00 a.m. ( the seat price: 100 UAH = 20 USD).
