    The old railway station
    4 more images

The local railway station is one of the few historical buildings in Lutuhine.
    It was built in 1914.
The railway station serves mostly as a freight station. There is only one local train passing here:
    Train No.6409 Vilkhove – Izvarino

Arriving to Lutuhine from Luhansk at 8 a.m. and Train 6410 Izvarine-Vilkhove back from Izvarine (at the Ukrainian-Russian border) at 2.40 p.m.
You can take this train back to Luhansk, too.

There is a memorial plaque at the wall of the railway station building.
It is dedicated to the events of the Civil War when on January 20, 1919 the Red Guards defeated the White Guards in the vicinity and thus the Soviet power was established here.

Here you can see more pictures of the railway station.

A winter view of Lake Lutugino
    4 more images

This is how this place is called by the locals.
It is, in fact, a water reserve located near the dacha area.
You can see lots of summer houses (datchas) with plots near the lake.
We hired a cab and had a nice stay there.
The lake is big and deep enough and attracts lots of the town residents in warm weather.
Strange I have not heard about that lake before. It must be hidden by the locals.

  • The Olchovka river.

There is small river called Olchovka running by Lutugino. It runs from the side of village Uspenka.
In the hills enthusiasts can search for meteorites, some quite rare samples were found. In the fields in season women collect medicinal herbs, like John's Wart, and Thyme, Chamomile, Wild Garlic. Water loving herbs, like mint, marshmallow and others grow by the water. Among the woods nothing can be better than photo hunt on deer, pheasant, rabbits, fax, wolf, etc.
During winter months skiing is loved by many.

Lutugino has one big artificial lake, they call it rather sea, where fishing, camping and boating can be done. It is about two miles away from the town, has many summer houses on one side. Also there is a small pond right next to the town. Second artificial lake is located a bit farther, West form Lutugino, next to the neighboring village Uspenka. This lake is surrounded by plenty of forest, a natural preserve area. In season there is hunting allowed in those woods: deer, wild pigs, and other small game. Lutugino is surrounded by steps, small woods patches here and there. In the woods one can hunt for mushrooms, local delicatessen. On the hills people can fly delta-planes. Lutugino has a hotel for the quests.
