A special exhibition in the village museum is devoted to the famous village sponsor - Vladimir Poddubny, a school graduate, Class 1972.
He is now a Russian Cossacks Army general.
He is the chief of Rosstroyinvest Inc. in Yekaterinburg.
He sponsored the huge renovation of the secondary school and its classrooms like nobody else in the village before.
Now the school is a proud owner of the best classrooms in Kreminne District, the best auditorium, which makes this school the base for all kinds of activities on the district level: teachers' seminars, meetings and exhibitions, students’ competitions and concerts.
This is how Vladimir Poddubny is described at one of the posters at the exhibition:

Like many other villages and towns of Luhansk region, Novoastrakhan has its Liberation Day - the day when the village was liberated from Nazi invaders.
Nova Astrakhan was liberated from Nazi invaders by the 41st Guards Division on January 31, 1943.
On that day every year there are gala meetings and a concert at the local school to honor the Soviet liberators.
There are three war memorials in the village.

As I was walking along Shevchenko Street I was surprised to see such fences with plastic bottles.
I asked the locals in that streets and they explained to me those plastic bottles were a good cow repellant: when cows return home from the pasture, they tend to break into the yards.
To prevent them from doing so, they use lots of plastic bottles to freighten cows away and it helps!
Wonders will never cease!
