This is the place that I used to pass on my way to the library or to the shop. It is in Lenin Park. Lenin Park is in the middle of Lenin Street opposite School #6 and Galaxy store. This Lenin monument has no twins in other towns and cities, but has a unique design. Lenin is depicted with what would be a leather case that he is holding in his left hand. He must be entering the conference room ready to fight any contrary opinions or persons... There are always flowers at the foot of the monument, which represents the residents’ longing for the Soviet era with its reliability and order… I must say that during my last stay in Rubizhne I saw funeral wreaths at the foot of this monument, which looked very rigid, as it were. Usually such funeral wreaths are only present at the cemetery... This bronze monument looks very special and not "factory stamped" for it does not look like dozens of others that stand in different towns and cities I have visited... This mosaic is called Victory Day (by me). :-) It adorns the back wall of the building of the former Komsomolets movie theater and represents the celebration and the joy of Victory Day. It’s pleasant to sit on a bench in the adjoining park and to admire that unusual mosaic on the back wall of the movie theater. It is really unique, like nothing else I have seen in the towns and cities of Luhansk region. Leave a Comment Address: Kirov StreetDirections: City Park in Kirov Street, opposite Elite cafe bar

This square adjoining Khmelnitsky Street and the City Park is one of the oldest squares of the city and dates back to the thirties of the last century. This is where different rallies were held in the Soviet era. You can see the telephone exchange, several stores, a cafe and the War Memorial in that square. There is a bus stop in Khmelnitsky Street near Labor Square where you can take a bus to the neighboring district center of Kreminna. Leave a Comment

This is the central war memorial located in Labor Square in the park behind the former Komsomolets movie theater. The war memorial is dedicated to those soldiers and officers who did not come back from the fronts of the last world war. Also, you can see a memorial plaque to the Heroes of the Soviet Union at the foot of the obelisk. The white bas relief symbolizes the unity of three generations of the Motherland defenders: sons, fathers and grandfathers. The inscription below the bas relief reads,To the residents of Rubizhne who fell in the battles for the liberation and independence of their Motherland in 1941-1945Seven city residents were awarded with the honorary title of the Hero of the Soviet Union:Nickolay Boyko, senior lieutenant; Vassily Danko, senior sergeant; Fyodor Dachko, senior lieutenant; Vadim Doichev, senior lieutenant; Mikhail Mikhailichenko, colonel; Nickolay Rudenko, senior batallion commisar; Stepan Shvets, major. All of these heroic officers had also the rank of „Guards“ preceding their army rank, which sounded like, Guards senior lieutenant. You can see memorial plaque all around the foot of the war memorial. The plaque contain the names of the city residents who fll in battles for the liberation of their Motherland during the Grat Patriotic War of 1941-1945. I must say the star on the top of the obelisk looks very extraordinary and awkward. Unlike all other ordinary five-point stars this one seems to stand on its two points as though they were legs and the distance between those lower points is much shorter than usual. This memorial is located in Labor Square and is dedicated to those city residents who fell at the fronts of the Second World War - the war that we call here the Great Patriotic War. There are black marble plaques at the foot of the obelisk with the names of those who did not come back from the war. You can see a big bas-relief - Three Generations Bas Relief - under the Victory Obelisk. The faces on the obelisk represent three generations of people who fought at the fronts: grandfathers, fathers and sons. Leave a Comment

Mosaic at Ukrtelekom building, Rubizhne, Ukraine by hunterV, 4 more photos I have always liked the city mosaic. This is one of them: at the building of the Ukrtelekom in Liberators Street. Isn’t it marvelous? Take a look at the close up of that mosaic that I remember from the Soviet era. I would call it like this:Peace and Harmony and what about you? This is a new cathedral completed recently and located in Lenin Street on the northern outskirts of the city. It is located next to the new supermarket. The cathedral has a big yard and to the right of the entrance there is the building of the former temporary church of the city. This is the only Eternal Flame in the city. It is located in Kirov Street at the mass grave of the soldiers and officers who fell in the battle for liberation of the city in January 1943. The bronze figure of the mourning officer with a burial wreath in his hand is a symbol of people’s mourning and a reminder of the tragedy of the last world war. The mass grave is in front of this monument. There are memorial plaques with the names of the fallen soldiers and officers.
