To Yelenovka via Bayrachki
During my third pilgrimage I took the 6.15 bus and got off at Bayrachki bus stop located right after Zorinsk.
The fare was 15 UAH.
There are two buses in the morning: at 6.15 a.m. and at 6.40 a.m. The latter one is a transit bus from Sverdlovsk to Donetsk.
You don't have to run to the booking-office at the bus terminal to get a ticket.
You only have to come up to the bus at the far end of Platform 1 and see the bus driver.
There are always available seats.
In about an hour and ten minutes you will reach Bayrachki and then you will only have to walk a hundred meters farther and take the right turning to cross the railway line and proceed along the asphalted road past the old coalmine to Yelenovka: about half an hour walk.
Enjoy the countryside and have no fear.
It's a very quiet place and no traveler has been mugged on that lonely road yet.
You will see the cathedral domes from afar.

Getting to the Village
I took the 6.20 bus from Luhansk.
All the buses heading for Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk or Kiev from Luhansk follow the same road - E-40 motorway.
You only have to pay $3 to the driver and tell him to let you get off at Bayrachki bus stop (after Zorinsk).
If the weather is dry enough for you have to walk past the old coalmine along the earth road to get to the village.
Then you only have to turn right off the motorway and to cross the railway line, then turn left and follow the road past the old coalmine's waste heap to the village. It is an old unpaved road that is good enough to walk in dry weather.
You can also take a local train from Luhansk to Debaltsevo and get off at the 16th kilometer stop. It is the train stop after Manuilovka (the railway station of the town of Zorinsk). The 16th kilometer is not a station, just a turnpike hut.
Then you will see the cathedral from the road and walk about two miles (half an hour maybe).
It will take you longer to get to that station from Luhansk by train than by bus.

The Village Location
Picture 1 and 2:
You can see by this map that Yelenovka is located not far from the outskirts of the town of Zorinsk (that my American friend jokingly calls Z-town).
The distance from downtown Zorinsk to Yelenovka is about five miles. Since I visited Yelenovka on November 21 when the weather was damp and the roads were not walkable, I used to walk across the entire town of Zorinsk (from the place marked as E-40 on the map) to get to the village. It took me about an hour and a half to reach Yelenovka.
Picture 3 shows the location of Yelenovka as to the big industrial cities such as Brianka and Stakhanov (to the north-east of the village).
Picture 5 shows E-40 motorway from Luhansk to Donetsk (to the southwest). Yelenovka is located right near the E-40 sign on that map (direction southwest, Luhansk-Donetsk motorway).See also Map of Yelenovka area

By the Pilgrims' Bus
During my third pilgrimage to Yelenovka in 2010 I was lucky for there was a big bus with pilgrims from Debaltsevo.
They were kind enough to take the two of us to the motorway where we took a bus to Perevalsk.
So we did not have to walk three miles to the motorway after the delicious lunch.
