this is the fastest and the cheapest option available so far - to get from Kyiv (Boryspil International Airport, terminal A) to Lviv for a 1.5 hour for as low as UAH 68 (around $15 one way; all taxes included). this is a SUPER PROMO price offered by a newly launched budget airline WIZZAIR. to get this lowest price, it's better to make a reservation (via internet) at least 2 weeks in advance, as the regular price might be as high as UAH 436.
the flight from Kyiv-Boryspil departs on 15:05 on M, W, Fr, Su., and arrives in Lviv at 16:30.
the flight from Lviv departs on 17:00 on M, W, Fr, Su, and arrives in Kyiv at 18:15
P.S. as of 2009, wizzair discontinued flight to Lviv and Odesa. currently, the airline flies only to Simferopol (Crimea).

When we asked at our hotel how much before our flight we needed to be at the airport it sounded like such a short period of time and I didn't want another missed flight on this journey so we left Lviv at 1pm for a 2:40pm flight. Now that I've been through the Lviv airport, scarcely bigger than my house and with less amenities, I understand not wanting to get there too early. Look at the arrival and departure boards and you'll notice that EVERY flight for the week is listed, that's how few flights go in and out of this airport. I believe there is at least one flight every day to Warsaw on LOT, some days there are two.
Checkin for our flight to Warsaw took all of about 2 minutes, getting through customs maybe another 3 minutes, good thing we brought plenty of things to read.
I don't recall seeing any place to buy anything, certainly not any last minute souvenirs nor anything to eat or drink. There was a WC though but I didn't venture in having remembered the squat toilet experience in Simferopol, I was sure to use the loo at the hotel before leaving.

Lviv is connected to Timisoara via Carpatair. Timisoara is Carpatair's hub. I flew to Romania because I had limited time and the train travel will take too long. It cost me 120 Euros but I think it was worth it. The plane left very early (like 6 am) and the Lviv airport is the most primitive, basic airport I have used in my life. It reminded me of an old train station.
My Global Eurail pass is valid in Romania but not in Ukraine and I was too curious to see at least a little of Romania. In retrospect, it was an excellent decision.
In the future, I will definitely use Carpatair for my travels in Eastern Europe. They seem to run a fairly efficient operation.

The city has bus station, the railway station and the international airport. So you have all possibilities to get the city. From Moscow there is the only direct plane by UTair company. Besides it is possible to get the city by Aerosvit with hanging boards in Kiev. My ticket to and back was RUR 7 800 (EUR 222 around).

Ok, so again, I begin with "Lviv is an interesting city!" BUT..it's the only city I have ever visited in Ukraine where I've been greeted at the airport by a seemingly 'real' official demanding that I show (her) my health insurance policy. (Other travelers have told me that the same ruse happened to them at the Lviv Airport.) The 'official', of course, was ready to sell me an insurance policy on the spot. ("It's required!" she said.) I showed her my 'election monitor' ID card from December 2004, and, for some reason, she said, "Oh, OK, you don't need the insurance." She then smiled, turned away, and looked for a more naive new arrival.
I love Ukraine, but beware of this type of BS. Sadly, the Soviet Union isn't quite far enough in the 'rear view' window in this fascinating land. It will just take some time. I am hopeful.

You will likely arrive in L'Viv by train so youll have a first hand look at the L'VIV RAIL STATION. Some more good luck came in the form of our trian to Lutsk didnt leave for 5 hours after our arrival in L'viv so we had a reasonable amount of time to look around the city.
