It was a great exercise for me to work at one of the children's health camps there in 1980 when I had a practice as a pioneer leader at Izotovets pioneer camp. All children camps in the Soveit times were called pioneer camps and they had to observe all the Young Pioneers' rituals.
The camp was/is administered by Nikita Izotov coalmine from Horlivka and it's been a long tradition that the students of our college of foreign languages had their pedagogical practice there.
The camp is located about thirty minutes walk from the town's post-office amidst a pine-tree forest. I remember our hikes and excursions there.
The camp was/is for all school age kids.
Now the kids staying there are happier for they don't have to put on any uniform or observe any promilitary Communist rituals. Also, they don't have to bear any Communist brainwashing like those poor Soviet kids had to.
I found a page on the Russian Internet about today's life at the camp. Thus here are the pictures from there. There are some videos too. They are a nice illustration of today's leisure of the young generation.
Equipment: The camp sportsgrounds and all the nearby forest glades....
