The Swallows nest castle is a famous image. However most pictures of it are from quite afar (as is mine). It's for a reason. The location is much more interesting than the building itself. Upclose it's quite small and resembles a tiny Disneyland building at best. It's really not the best in architecture the Crimea has to offer.
Unique Suggestions: I don't want to discourage anyone from going there, just don't set your expectations too high. Go there to fullfil your duty as a tourist.

at that time it was officialy forbidden to pay with any foreign currencies, although good business could be made by changing $$$ on the black market - unfortunately the 'good part' of the business was mostly with the sellers of Russian Rubls - and the customers got old russian bills for their Dollars...
