The train to Zaporizhzhya in Ukraine is known as the ZAP Train. I entered the main train station in Zap and I had no problem in getting a train ticket to Simferopol/Sevastopol for the price of UAH 45 for a kupe ticket (2nd Class) and the first class ticket is about UAH150. I chose to go 2nd class on this epic journey of 12 plus hours. The cabin in second class was cramped and was shared with 3 other fellow persons. It was quite hot in the cabin, and it did smell a touch. I found a kind lady in the carridge which sold hot coffee, tea and snacks. It was fun and not for the western tourist with a nervous disposition. There is a really nice reception area in the station, which cost a few extra UAH to sit in, and it's well worth the money.

HEY ... you always wanted to know how the Zaporozhye train station looked like, but YOU WERE TO AFFRAID TO ASK ... here to the left is your chance. You don't even need to ask.
Trains or planes are the preferred option to travel around in Ukraine. It takes about 12 to 13 hours to travel from Kiev to Zaporozhye by train.
It's not recommended to travel around in your own car in Ukraine. There is a risk of theft, and for sure you will be an attractive target for underpaid traffic police officers. Once pulled over, you'll have to pay something. Plus there is the annoyance factor.
Cabbies in Zaporozhye are often driving around in aging Lada's. They tend to drive quite fast. Not expensive.
