Things to Do

St. James Church

St. James Church, Arlington

yumyum Says:  The Chichesters certainly used this church on their grounds. I couldn't find out how old this church is but apparently the Parish records go back to 1598.

Arlington Court

Arlington Court, Arlington

yumyum Says:  The manor of Arlington Court was first built around 1820 by the orders of John Chichester. In 1865 it was extended. Today you can visit the museum inside which is made up of the belongings of the Chichester family with lots of intersting collections. You are not allowed to...

Kitchen garden with greenhouse

Kitchen garden with greenhouse, Arlington

yumyum Says:  This garden is walled in. It features a small pond and a greenhouse. They really still grow useful things for the kitchen there like strawberries which can be bought in the National Trust shop or they are used for the cafe.

Parklands

Parklands, Arlington

yumyum Says:  I thought that the parklands of Arlington Court are just gorgeous. I really like this pond and also the woodland settings. There are also paddocks with sheep. The farm bit is also run by the National Trust.

Carriage Museum

Carriage Museum, Arlington

yumyum Says:  The Arlington Court and National Trust Carriage Collection comprises more than 50 carriages in several buildings. Some of them are really amazing and the collection is well worth visiting even if you have to walk across parts of the park to get there. No photos are allowed...

Off The Beaten Path

Heddon's Mouth

Heddon's Mouth, Arlington

yumyum Says:  This off the beaten path place is only accessible on foot either through the Heddon Valley from the Hunter's Inn or the nearby National Trust Cafe and shop. Another approach is from the coastal path that takes you along the North coast of Devon on the Bristol channel.
