Part of the 'Vintage Inns' chain the Harthead Inn is a cosy, well decorated pub set amoung lush countryside on the Ashton-Oldham boundry near the village of Mossley. With a varied menu including plenty of fish, steak and poultry dishes and an open fire to take away that winter chill the inn is very popular with locals and visitors alike. The Inn is named after 'Hartshead Pike',the monument situated at the beacon point of the area, where it is possible to see four counties on a clear day. There has been a building on the hill for several centuries, the present tower built in 1863 is the third on the site as previous towers have collapsed. The pike is clearly visible from the inn, just a few minutes away and adds to the great setting of this pub.The food is very good at reasonable prices and the service is quick and helpful.Well recommended.
Favorite Dish: I had the Italian country chicken, served with a delicious sauce, salad and home made potato wedges. My friend had Hunters chicken. Both meals were very good and well worth the money.

Situated on the Ashton fold Leisure park five mins from Ashton is Frankie and Benny's New York/Italian style restaraunt which is part of a chain throughout the country.A spacious diner with bar and open kitchen with various amounts of Americana dotted about on the walls etc.Friendly helpful staff and a good choice of food and beverages.
Favorite Dish: I had the Dough sticks and dip for a starter, soft long warm bread sticks and the garlic butter dip.For my main meal the Philly cheese steak wrap, the starter was very nice but i was a little disapointed in the wrap which was well overcooked and quite tough, the beer we had was expensive as well at over £3 pouinds a pint of lager.

We called in Nandos on Ashton Moss for lunch after a recent visit to Ashton town centre.
The restaurant is situated on the same trading estate as Cineworld, Bowling a Chinese Restaurant and Frankie and Benny's restaurant and so it can be quite busy in the evenings and at weekends.
The restaurant is tastefully decorated in a Portuguese African style and has a great atmosphere.
You can pick your choice of main item then you can pick a from a choice of 2 side dishes I had a 1/2 chicken with Extra Hot Piri Piri served with Chips and Coleslaw and my friend had 1/2 Chicken with Hot Piri Piri and Chips and Garlic bread (we shared the coleslaw and garlic bread) both meal were very filling and delicious especially with the extra sauces etc. that you can add.
we had 2 bottles of beer each and of course we had Portuguese Beer but sadly they had ran out of Sagres which is my favourite so we had Super Bock. The bottles of beer are a little pricey at £3.10 for a 330ml bottle but Portuguese beer is not freely available from our shops so for the experience it was worth it.
We have been many times since and all the food is fantastic and they have always had Sagres bottles available. It is my favorite (probably because it is our nearest) Nandos!

The Dog and Pheasent is a nice pub on the main road between Ashton and Oldham, in a nice little area called Waterloo.
There is a small carpark at the rear with a back entrance as well as the front one. If you park at the rear when you get out of the car you will be hit with delicious cooking smells from the Kitchen which is just to the right of the Back door, a smell that gets even better as you enter passing the open Kitchen door.
The menu has a good choice of traditional meals and snacks but don't forget to check the specials board for some more great dishes.
I Ordered Goldon Plaice with Chips and Mushy Peas and Mick (Mickyboy07) ordered Steak and Kidney Pie with Chips.
We did not have to wait long for our meals to arrive and my Fish and chips was delicious, The chips are real home made chips not frozen ones and they were lovelyand chunky, Just perfect.
My fish was nice as were the Mushy peas. Micks pie looked nice with a lovely puff pastry topping although the filling was a little watery for a pie, i think it would have been nice poured over the chips.
Both main meal were £6.95

Found on the Ashton Moss leisure park Nando's is part of a chain of Portuguese style restaurants found in various locations in Britain. This one is just five minutes from Ashton town centre. They specialise in Portugals famous dish:chicken peri peri, which is available in several styles ranging from medium to extra hot depending on your taste, there are a number of side dishes available like garlic bread coleslaw etc.You can have other dishes such as burgers if you dont want the chicken. The food is very good and the service is friendly and quite fast as we didnt wait very long for our food. There is also a good selection of Portuguese beers and wines plus regular soft drinks, deserts etc.The restaurant is tastefully decorated in a Portuguese/African style and i would say a clean enviroment.Prices are reasonable though the Portuguese beers at nearly three pound a bottle are a little pricey though the beer itself is very good.I would certanley go here again.
Favorite Dish: Chicken peri peri,1/2 a chicken cooked in peri peri sauce(i had hot)served with chips and shared side dishes of garlic bread and coleslaw, washed down with Superbock beer, excellent.

A popular local pub serving good ales and lagers and fresh food with a varied range. The pub is quite large with plenty of seating available and is kept very clean, has kind of a sporty feel with lots of t.v screens showing football etc.The food itself is very good with a similar menu to wetherspoons pubs only much tastier and you get a lot more for your money, the drinks here are very reasonable as i recently found to my surprise paying only £3.98 for two pints of Lager.
Favorite Dish: Mixed grill,A lot of good food for a great price.
