At the car park their is a notice board with detailed map of different walks you can take starting from the car park. Each walk is colour coded and on the trail you will see wooden posts with different coloured arrows pointing you in the correct direction for your particular walk. We did the Banvie Burn and Bridges walk which took us slowly upwards...more
Queens View is one of the most famous views in Scotland, looking out across Loch Tummel from the north. It's very easy to get to from Blair Atholl where we were staying. It's also just off the main A9 road, so if you're staying elsewhere you should have no problem finding it. It's around 6 miles along a winding road, so I'd recommend going by car...more
On the way from Edinburgh to Inverness we saw this amazing castle. The castle is the home of the dukes of Atholl for more than 700 years and the architecture is Magnificent.Inside the castle we saw a lot of weapons and heads of hunted animals.I don't remember but i think you can't take photos inside the castle.more
Blair Atholl Watermill is the oldest working watermill in Scotland but has been converted in to a cafe that serves delicious cakes, breads and sandwiches. You can go downstairs and see the mill at work while you wait for your order. There is a large selection of oatmeal, wholemeal and flour for sale that has been grounded on the premises.more
We popped in here for a light lunch and each of us chose a different soup, served with fresh rolls, all of which tasted delicious, but the food was not the only reason we enjoyed this place. The best option is to come to the castle with a car , park it in the parking lot and continue with your trip after.
There is a big parking lot here and the road from Edinburgh wasnt a problem , easy and convenient.
There are a lot of animals in this area and they are free.
Sounds great isn't it ?
The problem is with the peacocks - they are HUGE and sometimes crazy.
try not to play with them or you will get poked by one of them.
You might say that the castle is one big tourist trap and you will be right.
A lot of visitors , noise and you cant see anything you want , problems to take photos but still this is one amazing castle.
i liked it a lot !
