I am by no means a shopaholic but cannot pass a bookshop. Fortunately my husband enjoys a browse too so Bridport was a great place for us - specially during the bitterly cold week we spent there on our first visit.
You can find regular chain bookshops and indepenedent shops selling new books in the lovely broad main roads of the town. But look out also for the many second hand bookshops and charity shops - of which there are many. The twice weekly street markets held on Wednesday and Saturday often include book stalls too - it's a real paradise for book lovers.

It took us a few days to realise Bridport had a huge Morrisons store on the edge of town. For self caterers such as ourselves this was a good find because the prices are good and the value equally good.
We also found a good Coop on the way to and from Beaminster.
