    Chessington Buses

    71 Bus

Chessington is served by a variety of buses, each of which takes a slightly different route through the area.

THE 71 DOUBLE DECKER TRAVELS every 8 to 20 minutes between: Kingston Bus Station & town centre, Surbiton Station, The Hook Roundabout, Chessington Stations and Chessington World of Adventures

THE 465 TRAVELS every thirty minutes (sixty minutes on Sundays) between: Dorking Station, Leatherhead, Chessington World of Adventures, Hook Roundabout, Surbiton Station, Kingston Town Centre, Teddington and Fulwell Bus Garage

THE 467 TRAVELS every sixty minutes (except Sundays) between: Epsom Hospital, Ewell Village, West Ewell, Chessington South Station and Hook Kingston Bypass

THE K4 HOPPA TRAVELS every thirty minutes (except Sundays) between: Hook (Mansfield Estate), Hook Roundabout, Surbiton Station, Kingston town centre and Bus Station and Kingston Hospital.

If you have taken the train to Chessington South station and wish to use the bus to avoid the ten minute walk to the theme park, the 71 bus stops on the opposite side of the road to the station exit and takes only a few minutes to reach the theme park

Here is the address for a nice clear map showing Chessington bus services:

Trains for Chessington are run by South West Trains on the line between London Waterloo and Chessington South (the stop for the World of Adventures.) Trains generally leave Waterloo at 16 and 46 minutes past the hour on weekdays and Saturdays and at 21 and 51 minutes past the hour on Sundays. The journey takes just over half an hour. To return to Waterloo, you can catch a train from Chessington at 10 and 40 minutes past the hour on weekdays and Saturdays and at 12 and 42 minutes past the hour on Sundays. Costs start at £4.20 for an off peak single, rising to £7.70 for a peak time day return. London Transport travelcards and season tickets for zone 6 are valid for travel to this station

The service being infrequent and also running slowly to stop at every station, make it quicker, if you have just missed one to take the next fast train to Surbiton, followed by a 71 bus to Chessington from its stop, a few steps from the forecourt of Surbiton station, in front of Marks and Spencers. A London Transport travelcard or season ticket for zone 6 could be used on this route too and the bus will take you all the way to the theme park, if this is your destination.
