My sister had the wonderful experience of living in Dalkeith in the Dalkeith Palace with her university (Wisconsin-Eau Claire) from late January to early May of 2004. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit her there, and the experience was truly amazing.

The Palace is on the grounds of the Dalkeith Country Park, which is a lovely piece of land that contains countless miles of hiking trails amidst the River Esk, ancient oak trees, the impressive Montagu Bridge, and an old conservatory (inhabitants of the Palace used it to grow fruit during the winter months). There is a lot of stunning scenery, and the entire property is very peaceful. An absolutely delightful way to spend an afternoon with some friends or family.
