When I lived in Dukinfield, The Old General was THE place to go for me. Everyone leaves their worries at the door, everyone knows your name, and the people were fantastic. I don't think I've had a CONSISTENTLY great time at a bar anywhere I've travelled (except for, maybe guys, my time spent at the Greene Leaf in Williamsburg, VA or at Mitchell's in Whitewater, WI-but it's not far behind either one) If anyone from Dukie visits here, hi guys--hope I have a chance to come back.
The giant clubs in Manchester were only a ten quid cab ride away, but most of the time I preferred the comfortable surroundings of the General rather than ogling posh birds at Deansgate who would acknowledge my glance by giving me the two finger salute!
(Well, maybe I was pissed at the time!)
