Dunoon Things to Do

  • Jinglis's Profile Photo

After our good New Year's dinner, a simple walk along Alexandra Parade towards the town centre did wonders. Extend the walk past the shops and head towards the east end of Dunoon where the large hotels and holidaymakers congregate, and enjoy the views of the opposite coastline.

    2 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Worth a visit on Saturday nights as they have a good selection of live bands and performers.
You could hear rock, folk, traditional music and the acts change every week.

Warning...can be a bit smokey at times...

Dress Code: Casual- just as you are...

We went to this pub on New Year's Day, which might have been a factor in the early closing time (10.30pm) and the downstairs bar being closed. It has a friendly atmosphere and a mix of locals and visitors chatting with each other. It's also the first time I've seen an off-licence contained within the pub itself; the barman was working two bars as well as the shop! Recommended for a few pints with the regulars.

A nice pub on the high street in Dunoon. Good atmosphere with a few regular, local people propping up the bar as well as holidaymakers. The music is a bit loud but if you're into classics from the 80s and 90s, then you might find it OK! The drinks were reasonably priced and the pool table is always a good idea.

Dunoon Transportation

There are two ferry companies that travel to Dunoon - Caledonian MacBrayne and Western Ferries. The latter seems to be the cheaper option, with a shorter crossing time (to Hunter's Quay) and being more frequent than Cal Mac.
