William Wallace was born here ,not in some highland glen. The remains of his birthplace are in a pleasant little park along with theYew tree planted by him. THe most interesting point is a monument to him with brass engravings of his 4 significant points of his life.
There is no information stand but the local library and a real friendly librarian does her best to share what she has in the way of information. There is a campaign to make a visiters centre and put Elderslie on the map. All the villages pubs seem to have a Wallace theme and there is a nice karma about the village .
