Info board and directions by diocletianvs Bristol has no less than five (!) Tourist information centres. They are located at Harbourside (@ Centre), City centre (Colston Avenue), at Broadmead (Shopping centre), Clifton (Bristol City Museum) and Temple Meads (British Empire Museum). I visited one at Harbourside - they had the usual selection of free maps, brochures and leaflets as well as some small souvenirs. Bristol Guide and Bristol Pocket Guide are free brochures where you can find the essential tourist info about Bristol. General info can be found online at www.visitbristol.co.uk
One of the things that is excellent in Bristol are tourist signposts that are located throughout the city, pointing to major points of tourist interest. Posts are well designed, always displaying the map of the surrounding area as well as arrows pointing in directions of surrounding sites. Leave a Comment

by pollon But two real paradises for the shopping lovers are: The Galleries Shopping Centre and St Nicholas Market which used to be the Merchants Guild in the old days. In the pic part of the huge window of the Bear Factory in The Galleries... unfortunately I wasn't allowed to take a pic inside... everyone who liked when a kid or still likes teddy bears would appreciate this place where you have to choose your furry friend then they stuff, stitch, dress him under your eyes... a plunge in your childhood... by pollon I was in Bedminster also to go to the Bristol Blue Crystal Glassworks and even if you don't intend to buy, the shop with these creations of Steve Baker is worth a visit! It's in 50 Bedminster Parade. And if you want to see more go to bristolblueglass.com Leave a Comment

by pollon In the dock area you can also go and see the BB Great Britain, the first of great luxury ocean liners, built in 1843 and designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It's considered the forerunner of all modern ships and was the largest ship of its day. It carried over 15,000 emigrants to Australia. The ticket costs you £6.50 but I cannot say if this price is worth it because Louise and I chose instead to go on with our tour of Bristol on foot and I took this pic from the other side of the river. But let's proceed in order... Leave a Comment

by pollon Inside The Galleries there is the yummy Food Street, at the second floor if I don't remember wrong... here you can have a nice meal choosing among the multiethnic food stalls or have a coffe or something more like this... but I won't repeat what I have written in my food travelogue... I know I'm naughty to push you to go to my travelogue... sorry... ;-) If you don't want to go to the travelogue, I shortly explain here too: it's a chocolate fudge temptation Leave a Comment

by pollon a small church built into the old Bristol walls. It's preserved by the Churches Conservation Trust which look after churches which are no longer needed for regular worship but are of historic, architectural or archeological importance. And inside it... Leave a Comment

by pollon go to Brandon Hill and try to go in the wrong direction when climbing up to it so you will find, if in August, nice bushes of juicy, yummy blackberries - I do like berries - but Greebo brought me on the right way... sorry Greebo I couldn't resist when I spotted the berries... ;-) Leave a Comment

by pollon it's even nicer if a squirrel welcomes you up there and nearly seems to pose for you... thanks Greebo you didn't take your camera out of its case not to frighten the squirrel and let me take the pic... if I had notice it, I wouldn't have let you fail your pic of it... Leave a Comment

by pollon when you are by the Cathedral, raise your eyes and you see this unicorn which Greebo told me is a symbol of Bristol and said which comes out nice in a pic with a blue sky in the background and glittering in the sun...well my sunny afternoon was already over and it was cloudy again... but why not to snap it anyway!
