Dinner at the Avon Gorge Hotel by sue_stone The Avon Gorge Hotel offers accommodation in the picturesque suburb of Clifton. Though the main drawcard of the Hotel is the large terrace which forms part of the Bar/Restaurant, and has spectacular views of the Avon Gorge and the Suspension Bridge. It is a fabulous site - worth a look even if you don't end up eating here. We had dinner here one night, and braved the cold (summer!) night to dine alfresco and watch the sun set.
The food wasn't very good.....I had a tuna dish that had no flavour, and an average sticky toffee pudding. The wine was ok Prices were not too bad considering the location. Leave a Comment

This pub on Corn Street is interesting because of its interior. It is housed in an old Georgian merchant's club built in 1810 with the purpose of creating an elegant and exclusive meeting place for local tradesmen. The interior is definitely unique with old decorations including the frieze that shows Neptune presenting all quarters of the world to Britannia.
In February 2007 another historic event happened in this historic place at Table#32: Niksa aka Diocletianvs tried his first Fish & Chips! (Alongside what was apparently Fish and what was apparently Chips an undefined green mass was served as well, so I guess the proper description would be Fish & Chips & The Green Thing*). Everything tasted very good. * Thanks to my German friend (who speaks with an Irish accent) I've learned that The Green Thing were Mushy peas! Thanks Sabs! Leave a Comment

A fish 'n' chip shop, but what a fish 'n' chip shop! Everything freshly cooked to order as it should be. batter light and crispy, fish firm and succulent, chips crisp on the outside, soft in the centre. One of the best there is anywhere.

by TheLongTone Brunel's Buttery is situated by the waterside of the floating harbour, about 400 metres along the quay from the Princes St. swing bridge. It's just a shed serving snacks with outside seating, but they don't rely on the pleasant surroundings to bring in the trade. Excellent bacon sandwiches, vast slices of cake and pies that actually contain meat rather than the all too common toxic sludge. A great place, weather permitting.
A pie for me, if there are any left. The kids'll have a cone of chips each. Theme: OtherPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Past the cranes, following therailway tracks...

It is not the typical pub thas serves only burgers and chips... They have a wide variety of snacks/meals and the best sandwiches in town. It is beautiful to go when the weather is nice and sunny and you can enjoy your drink and food at the back garden. The atmospere is so relaxed that you feel that you are at a friends back garden. The staff as well is so cool !!! And the prices are more than friendly!
1)Brie, Salami on wholemeal bread + 2) Fries with cheese-cheddar ( the most "cheesy" fries that you will ever eat!!! they put a so much cheese that it should cost them more than the fries...) The food is mainly Moroccan. Spices and authenticity makes that restaurant one of my favorites!! they are using the best of traditional and contemporary cuisine and the finest ingredients. And as it says on their leaflet "Discover tha range of flavours of the Mediterranean shores, the Sigh Atlas, the Sahara and more..."

Mud Dock Café by KennetRose When a bicycle shop with a café attached opened, that was strange enough, but then word got round that the café was in fact a pretty classy place to eat, and improbably enough it is now a restaurant with a bike shop. The bicycle theme is heavily represented in the unusual decor. The food is nouveau-Brit, leaning heavily towards Spanish/Mediterranean, and fish dishes figure prominently. River Station, with St Mary Redcliffe by KennetRose Classy, but reasonably-priced, nouveau-Brit restaurant house in the old harbour police station, jutting out into the water. Reservations essential as this is (or was) considered a cool place to see and be seen.

Hard Rock Bar by suvanki I wandered into this bar, as it was on the way back to my accom, and I'd picked up a flyer, with a half price beer offer, so intended just having the drink and having an early night. Huh! 4 hours later, I left! As a lone female, it can sometimes be daunting walking into a bar. However, I felt quite comfortable here. A good atmosphere, staff were all polite, friendly and efficient. Large horseshoe shaped bar, variety of beers, spirits and cocktails Happy Hour. Varied menu, reasonable prices. Rock memorabilia, the first item I spotted was Clarence Clemons sax!!!! I'm a big Springsteen/ E- Street Band fan! Music videos, and at 21.30 a great live band! There was also a selection of newspapers, which I worked my way through!
I had a burger, which came with fries and salad garnish for £4.95. I'm not a huge burger fan, but this was excellent! The burger was very tasty, and the fries were spot on! hot, crisp on the outside and fluffy inside! Mmmmm! John Smiths Bitter, I paid £1.50 with my voucher, then £2.20. (I think!) Service was prompt, and there was table service for drinks too! All in All I enjoyed my time spent here, I didn't feel uncomfortable, sitting by myself, even when the place started filling up with some of Bristols trendy attractive youth! Wonderful restaurant decorated in a Lebanese style, very oriental feel. The Lebanese cuisine is very close to my heart! All the dishes look so much like Greek but with a bit of exotic. Often they have Arabian Nights , with belly dancers, well cooked food, great service (very helpful and friendly staff) and "Sisha" ( nargileh)
We have tried the Mezza which is a selection of hot and cold dishes. We had that cause that way we could have tried many things in small portions, rather than just a starter and a main course. I can still have the different tastes in my mouth.... yiam yiam... The Mezza is 15 GB p.p, and trust me its A LOT of food on the table!!! When we left we had to go for a walk ... I couldn't move from the quantity of food that we ate.
