Bracknell bus & railway stations from Princess Sq.

Bracknell's main railway station is under the tall, glass-fronted office block in the picture.
There is another railway station on the same line in the Martin's Heron area of Bracknell.
The trains are run by SouthWest trains, with sevices usually on the half-hour in both directions (WNW to Reading & ESE to Ascot, Staines and London Waterloo).

Bracknell's buses are run by First Group. They also run buses from Bracknell to places like Crowthorne, Camberley, Wokingham, Reading, Windsor, Slough and Heathrow.
Bus services to London are provided by the iconic Green Line brand.

First Group took over the post-privatisation (1986) Bee-Line company, who in turn took over from Alder Valley who ran the buses in the glory days of the National(ised) Bus Company. Prior to that (in the old days) the area's buses were run by Aldershot & Thames Valley omnibus company.

Must dash, got a train to catch

Bracknell train station is situated very close to the bus station, which makes it easy for anyone who wants to come to Bracknell via train and get about town. Prices are reasonable but the times of the trains can vary quite a bit from when they are supposed to arrive and when they actually arrive. It is a good way for getting to other towns/cities like London or Reading.

A busy Bracknell bus station

Bracknell buses run quite regularly all over the town and are a good way to travel about during the day. The typical cost for a trip to town from most of the boroughs costs £1. Although the service can be a little off sometimes it is always best to check the bus schedule and arrive at a bus stop early enough before you wish to travel.

Budget Car Hire

I used Budget car hire when it was owned by Eurodollar and found the service very reasonable, providing a good car with good flexible service. Budget is located opposite the bus station next to the train station.

Avis also does car hire there, in fact the UK headquarters is there but their place is on the opposite side of town.

Bracknell Railway Station

The station is only a short walk from the town centre. Trains to and from London are every 30 minutes or so but watch out at night as the last train from London is 11:30 ish.
If your destination in London is nearer to Paddington Station than Waterloo then it is often better to travel to Reading and take the fast train in from there. The trains are hopelessly overcrowded at peek times with many cancellations on average every other train is cancelled on an evening. Plan ahead and multply the advertised journey time by 2 for safety's safe. During the day the Station has a seperately owned snack bar called the Solo Cafe. This does exclellent and good value baguettes and wraps with a multitude of fillings.

Empty Bracknell Bus Station

Bracknell has a very poor bus service. Don't expect anything at night. This photo was taken at 4:30 on a normal weekday and as you see the place is deserted.
