Photo 1 - Eton Porny School : The school was at one time divided into two,the girls would be upstairs and the boys downstairs. There was also a fence down the middle of the playground. The lessons would consist of mainly maths and English, with the boys doing woodwork and the girls needlework.Pupils would stay at school until the age of 14.Nowadays the school caters for children from 5-9 years of age.
Photo 2 - The house next to the school.
Photo 3 - The plaque above the front doors: Above the red doors you will find a plaque which reminds us that the building and the adjoining school was established by Mark Anthony Porny a French master at Eton College.Porny's real name was Antoine Pyron de Martre.
Photo 4 - My wife outside her childhood home.
This place was of special interest as it was where my wife grew up.As her father was a master at Eton College he was entitled to a college house. My wife also attended Eton Porny School.

When visiting Eton or Windsor this restaurant is an ideal place for a break. It is situated on the Eton side of Windsor Bridge next to the River Thames, with a five minute walk to Windsor Castle.
Arrived at 11 am and was immediately found a table on the terrace by the waters edge. Our order of coffee and croissants arrived without delay.Staff were friendly, smartly dressed and gave excellent service.

I have a question for you. Do you have a sweet tooth? I actually believe that all my teeth are "sweet teeth." I discovered a dessert that I enjoy; it is simple in its construction yet oh so tasty and satisfying for that "sweet tooth." It is known as an "Eton Mess or an Eton Crumble." It is crunched up meringue (the cookies or the meringue used for a Pavlova.) Add vanilla ice cream and then strawberries (fresh or jam). Add some whipped cream and voila! You have an Eton Mess. Now you will find some places have never heard of it and then others know exactly what you are talking about.

So if you like meringue, strawberries and vanilla ice cream then give this a try. I replicate it here at home with great success.
