Reading Train Station by dejavu2gb First Great Western trains run regular services from London Paddington, with the journey time about 30 minutes (fast trains). Thames Trains also do the route with stops along the way to reading. You can also get the Southwest Train, from Waterloo Station, the journey takes about an hour and twenty minutes. Leave a Comment

Reading Main Line Railway station by easyoar Reading has a very good railway station that is on the West Coast line (to Wales and Cornwall). London Paddington is about 25 minutes away, and virtually every fast train out of London Paddington stops at Reading (first stop). There is also a crap line that goes to London Waterloo, but this is best avoided as it takes over an hour that way! Leave a Comment Theme: Train

RailAir Coaches at Reading Station by easyoar These buses/coaches leave from reading Railway Station and go direct to London Heathrow Airport (Terminals 1, 2 and 3) many times a day. The buses currently depart every 20 minutes during the day, Mondays to Fridays. Then at weekends and early weekday mornings and evenings, the coaches depart every 30 minutes. Your best bet is to see the attached website however. Singles currently cost £11, day returns £12.50 and returns for up to one month cost £18.50 so it isn't especially cheap. Leave a Comment

by Imbi The M4 motorway linking London to Bristol, South Wales and the South West of England runs South of the Town. Further South, the M3 motorway provides a link to the South Coast. Heading North, the M40 motorway gives access to Birmingham and the M1 and M6 routes. There is a regular coach service from the Railway Station to Heathrow Airport Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Reading is a major rail hub. Trains are the best way to get to and from almost anywhere in the UK - 30 minutes from Paddington station in London by a fast and frequent service, rather less frequent but still excellent services to Bristol, Devon and Cornwall, Southampton, Oxford and Birmingham. You can get there by narrow boat too - from Bristol and Bath via the Kennet & Avon Canal, and from Oxford and London via the River Thames. Everything you need is within walking distance. Reading is well served by rail and road. Brunel's 'GWR' runs through Reading from London Paddington. There is also a line to London Waterloo (much slower). On the road, the M4 runs close by and the M40 isn't far away either, nor is the M3. Be aware however that the traffic in Reading is terrible, and the parking is neither cheap nor easy. There is a park and ride scheme from the cinema in Winnersh - get off the M4 at junction 10 and head for Reading. Leave at the next junction on the A329M. If you arrive by air to Heathrow, take the 'Railair' bus to Reading - it's a great service and leaves all terminals every half an hour. You can drive around Reading, but its not at all easy for the visitor. Try walking, cycling, and using the buses. If all else fails, use a taxi. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

From the Heathrow airport you can get a dedicated bus (search the net for it at http://www.firstbeeline.co.uk/), it takes 1 hour and it costed less than 9 pounds to me. The TAXI is quite expensive (80 pounds ? I'm not so sure). Check also for trains: Reading is a sort of 'crucial' station for railway system. Just walk, it's a small city. Theme: Other

It is impractical drive into Reading and park at Christmas time. Give yourself about an hour to do this. You are better off taking the car to the out of town park and ride schemes, parking for free, and then taking the subsidised bus into town. Beware though the service stops about 4:30pm Even though the shops stay open till 8:00pm. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home
