Firstly this is the only time I have been to Cippenham - so this may be the only tip for any part of this section of my travels.

A group of 10 of us travelled to Tummies. It was establised in 1988, and has grown over the years. Currently the facilities include, the restaurant, The Deli, Cookery School, Chef's Table and they even have a dedicated events team.

It is a privately owned concern, operated by Claude and Tammy Mariaux - Claude was trained in Lausanne, well I think so due to a very large Diploma on display. The food available is serious, unpretentious and there is a great atmosphere from walking through the doors to the time you leave. The staff are wonderful and very professional.

They have seating outside and even though it was late March, it was comfortable enough to sit outside, even if you were not a smoker.

Another feature to note was that around the bar area, there is paper and coloured pencils for all customers to create works of art, which may eventually find their way to a frame and be mounted around the walls. (Some of the ladies in our group, spoke at great length about the "witches nose" whihc featured in one piece of artwork in one of the ladies wc's) Ask no questions - tell no lies!!!

Favorite Dish: We ate at the Chef's Table so we had to select the menu upfront of the visit. It is an interesting experience more or less attending a dinner party where all the food is prepared and cooked by a Chef, right in front of your eyes. Our menu for the evening was:

    Champagne and Canapes

Starter 1: Ravioli stuffed with Porcini Mushrooms & Truffle scented Oil

Starter 2: Homemade Green Thai Chicken Curry Cup

Main Course: Fillet Steak on thyme scented potato tartlet, topped with stilton & red wine jus

Pudding (dessert if you will): Seasonal Berries Tratlet, served with thick pouring cream

Cheese Board: Selectioon of cheeses from their deli (I especially liked the smoked cheese)

    Coffee and petits fours

Throughout the meal we had the services of the Chef and a waitress. Wonderful and totally fabulous experience. I am also advised that the wines we selected were excellent too!
