Royal Windsor Station Arcade: Souvenirs from Windsor

Royal Windsor Station is a great place for some shopping. There are nice arts and crafts shops, restaurants and cafes, clothing and fashions, home and gifts, etc. My wife always likes to buy little prizes for her bridge club when we are on trips so went into a shop called Oil and Vinegar and found a couple of ideal things. I also love places that have free food samples and here got to try a couple of different flavored olive oils on some bread. For a listing of the shops in this lovely arcade go to the website below.

Windsor Castle gift shops: Windsor Castle shopping

Inside the castle grounds are several gift shops, each with slightly different merchandise, if you want a souvenir of your visit to Windsor Castle.

What to buy: I found charms for my niece's bracelets in the one by the Albert Chapel and at the one near the exit I bought a King Henry VIII (before he got fat) toy soldier for my nephew who proclaimed it the BEST gift ever, well, except for the kites from China!

various: Shopping near the castle and train station

Peascod Street looking toward the Castle

The area near the train station/castle is filled with speciality shops, gift shops, shoe stores, antique stores and more. There are stores in the covered section going from the train station to the Castle, if you go up to High Street and turn right and then right again, you will be on Peascod Street, a pedestrian only shopping district. The website listed below shows the main shopping area.

We only stopped in a few shops, including Woolworth's and a Clinton card store, the exchange rate made me keep my credit card in my pocket but it was fun to look.

If you are looking for a grocery store, there is a Waitrose in King Edward Court very close to the Central Station and I believe I also saw a Marks and Spencer on Peascod Street.

Windsor Royal Shopping: Large variety of upmarket shops

The Windsor Royal Shopping area is really lovely :)

I often wander along here, appreciating not only what's in the windows, but also the architecture.

Antiquated and charming!

There is a wide variety of shops here:
Restaurants
Coffee shops
Arts and crafts
Fashion
Home stuff
Giftting

There are quite a few designer names here: Hobbs, Fenn Wright Manson, Kew, Jaeger, French Connection, Phase Eight to name a few.

What to buy: You can buy all kinds of items here, from leather shoes to sandwiches, from spectacles to a frappechino!

What to pay: It is more upmarket and many items are more designer-ware, so it is expensive.

Caffe Nero: Great Location for a coffee

Drinking Coffee in the Old Station

This picture shows the inside of the Old Railway Station Shopping Mall. Essentially it appears that the old railway station (or at least most of it) has been refurbished very nicely and converted into shops. Right in the centre of it is this Coffee Shop.

If you want to sit and people watch in Windsor and be under cover, it is probably the best place in Windsor!

Caffe Nero is a chain of coffee shops in the UK, so prices should not be too over the top relatively speaking.

The Main Shopping Street in Windsor: Peascod Street

Peascod Street on a quiet Sunday afternoon

Windsor is a bit posh, which means that there are some quite nice shops along the main shopping street (Peascod Street) for doing a spot of Window Shopping!

Not all shops are posh, and it has a good mix of shops really. Peascod Street is pedestrianised, which means it is pretty stress free strolling up and down it. You also get good views up to the Castle as the street points straight at it.

In summer months it gets very busy with tourists, so Winter is actually quite a good time to visit.

What to pay: Windsor probably isn't the cheapest place to buy things...

Montezuma's Chocolate Shop in Peascod Street, Wind

Weird and wonderful chocolate mixtures. Some examples of chocolate bars that they sell are:

Hot Stem Ginger in Dark Chocolate
Raspberry in White Chocolate
Orange in Chocolate
White Chocolate with Ginger
White Chocolate with Ginger and Chilli
Chocolates with a variety of nuts

They also make the more traditional chocolate sweets sold by weight.

They aren't cheap, but it's a nice shop to pop into and treat yourself. They also seem to often have samples out to try too (for free).

Daniels

Family run department store established in 1901. It has a number of departments - men and womenswear, gifts, furniture, lighting, toys, baby things, 2 cafes. No make up section unfortunately!

What to buy: Absolutely the best place to buy toys for miles around!

Not bad for women's clothes too.

What to pay: Prices are reasonable - no more than elsewhere
